Training DuringThree-Day Weekends

I’m training for Lake Placid, and just found out that my company is instituting summer hours–which means I’ll have three (!) three day weekends (Fridays off) in June.

How would you arrange your workouts for those weeks/weekends to maximize training benefit? I’m currently doing the ‘long-ride sat, long run sunday’ format because of work schedule.

And yes, I know it’s all personal–just looking for some good options. Thanks in advance!

Personally, if I was getting ready for LP again and I had 3 day w/ends, I’d be dead set on getting in 200+ miles (10-12hrs riding)/weekend on my bike on every weekend, including those that I was doing a half IM race.

last year while i was trng for placid, i went up there twice to train on the course. i don’t know where you live but i highly recommend getting to know the course - it made a huge difference on race day.
this is what me and my buddy did.

friday: 1hr run before i left to go to placid
saturday: 1.2m swim 100mile bike 5 mile run
sunday: 2:30 run/easy 1hr spin
monday: off

don’t forget to eat a lot!

Last year I took all Fridays (and a few Thursdays) off in May and June in prep for IMLP. I’ll be doing this all again come May (I’m doing IMLP again). Here’s a breakdown:

Friday was my race simulation day, swimming a 2.4 TT, biking 100 miles (Prospect Park was pretty empty) and then doing a 20 minute run. This also worked for me beacuse my wife was at work while I was doing all this.

Saturday I did brisk group rides up to Nyack of around 75 miles.

Sunday was long run day, lasting 2.5 hours.

Needless to say, I took naps when I coould and slept very well Sunday night.

thanks so much for the advice!
i’m going to focus on getting those miles in on the bike–hopefully at least once in lake placid.
