Training Buddy Saga II

Rewind to this same week last year: I jettison my training buddy because he’s a jerk.

Back to today’s run with my new training buddy of about three months: He tells me that his energy level has been getting low lately and he’s had to start taking extra methamphetamines before workouts to keep his pace up… SHREECH… meth!? I laugh and he insists whilst looking very serious. A few minutes of tension filled banter later and he is in fact using speed to get ready for training sessions and races.

So now I’m back to training solo. The last thing I want to be thinking about while getting ready for my first Ironman is if my training partner is going to have a fu*king heart-attack from his meth addiction or from the ephedra he is also taking. If we were in the 60-65 AG I’d be willing to accept such an event as a possibility, but being in the 20-24 AG I shouldn’t have to worry about stuff like that.

I just don’t know him well enough to care about setting his thinking straight. I don’t need someone else’s problems keeping me up at night especially if they don’t have breasts.

Drop him like it’s hot for any number of reasons! you don’t need that or the trouble it can bring!! Train hard and find others that will do the same. You’ll find them!

This has got to be the quote of the day!
