Training as a means to avoid chores

My friends are often amazed at how I can train 2 hours a day. I tell them that you would be amazed at the chores I avoid by training. If it wasn’t for the weeds in the yard, the laundry in the hamper and the overall mess in my house I don’t think I could do it. Is there anyone else who is obsessive about training that procrastinates about everything else?

Yeah, but then somebody else has to do the chores. That was me when my wife was training for long course. I’m now very grateful she’s gone back to short course.

Chores?..hmmm let me think. Oh yeah, it’s all those things I used to do! Luckily for me, I’ve got a great wife (who unfortunately doesn’t race) who picks up most of the slack. She has created a magic house-things just “happen”. I don’t want to know how or why, they just do. Here’s to you.

OT: Still racing the 125 Kart? I have a Trackmagic/Leopard kart that is lonely since I bought my Litespeed Blade!!

My 03 Tony Kart has been sitting since December. I have had an 05 WR250 motor on it since Sep 06. I Stuck the motor after the kick start plug poped out and it lost all of the oil. I started doing this stuff to lose weight for karting. Now I am too busy to turn wrenches to fix the kart (ie title of current thread).

Nothing quite like the neck snapping turns of a kart  Where do you hit the track?

My chassis is a hand me down from Memo Gidley…it needs a better owner!

Yea man, time is money and fitness… Outsource the petty stuff in life-if your able to.

Here is a good reason, if you live with your gf or wife, to change your approach:

I do chores so my wife won’t complain about the training!!! Just do them fast and poorly so you don’t get asked too do too much!:>

homework, studying, social stuff… all can wait until after I train

I started doing this stuff to lose weight for karting.
And here I though I was the only one. I stopped cycling about 6 years ago and ended up road racing motorcycles. That go to expensive so I switched to motocross. That ended up being to dangerous so I bought a shifter Kart. After a year I decided to get back on the bike so I could get down to the minimum weight. I’ve only been on the Kart once since I started riding/running but will be getting back out to the track again soon. I have a 2007 Reynard Shifter chassis with a 2007 Debei Motori engine sitting on top of it.

I forgot to add, I’m stuck doing all of my chores since I’m the only one in the house. If anyone wants to visit Tucson in the winter months for training I have an extra room, all it will require of you is some weed pulling and maybe finish grouting my living room tiles.

If you are looking for a fun day of driving. Check out www.proautosports.com . They have road races once a month at Firebird. The Kart group has around 38 karts. Mostly shifters and some TAGs mixed in for fun. They run 4 20 min sessions. 2 practice 1 qualifying and a main. They run all three tracks, check the schedule. The main track uses the drag strip and run off with speeds in excess of 100 mph with a draft. The west track is the best for karts. The east has the best sweepers. Check it out it is 90 min from Tucson. If you bring your bike you can add a 30 mile loop to Maricopa and back between the first two heats :o

When we both started training for longer course racing (me IM, Wife 70.3) we broke down and got a Maria Luisa. Every two weeks I come home to the fresh scent of orange oil, everything is washed, mopped, vaccumed, dusted and put away. I highly reccomed you get one. She only charges $65 a pop and it’s worth every penny. Now if I could just find the cash to pick up a cheap Juan Carlos for the yard I’d really be stylin.

May? Men who do less chores train more and get faster. No may involved. Oh and we still get sex.
