Just found out that I have a business trip to Buena Park all week next week and plan to keep up my training as best as possible. I’m driving there so I’ll be able to bring my bike. A few questions for the Los Angeles area experts…
Any advice on a decent, reasonably priced hotel?
Is the Cerritos Swim Center a good place to swim? Any other pool suggestions?
Buena Park is convenient to both Disneyland and KNott’s Berry Farm - at this time of year a decent reasonably priced hotel may be an oxymoron…but there will be no shortage of restaurants in the area of all sorts. Try to get to a korean BBQ place (jang soo at bloomfield and south in cerritos is awesome) or there are some decent thai places in the area as well.
The cerritos swim center is a really nice pool, especially when they have long course set up, but they used to have a pretty strict Cerritos-residents-only policy. i would call ahead and ask if that’s still in effect. their number should be pretty easy to google.
biking is tough - you’re essentially in the middle of an endless suburb. your best bet would be to get to brea blvd and head out brea canyon into diamond bar i think, i’m in long beach and try to avoid that area while cycling, but maybe some OC folks can chime in on how to get you into the decent inland areas (santiago canyon, san gabriel/santa ana bike trail, etc.). hope that is of some help anyway.
Thanks. Turns out I’m going to stay in San Dimas which is an area in which I’ve stayed before. I know a few decent nearby cycling and running routes and where a pool is. Does anyone know the swimming hours at Bonelli Park at the beach?
