Trainer set-up question

  1. How tightly should the trainer be attached to the bike? It seems as though the number of turns on the adjustment rod can effect the performance of my rear drivetrain in certain gears.

  2. How much tire tension should i use? Does this effect wear?

Thanks!

JG, set the tension so that one turn of the cranks will allow your rear wheel to go through one revolution, a medium gear is fine to assess this. Also inflate your tyre to the maximum recommended on the sidewall, this will prevent slippage.

To assist you in comparing your sessions and effort for progression purposes always ensure you inflate the tyre to the same pressure.

To reduce tyre wear use a tyre which has a tread free centre (where the contact with the flywheel is made.
