Trainer mat

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. Got a quick question for the board. I have been using one of those mats you see weightlifters use to put under my trainer when I cycle indoors. It’s a pretty cheap version. It’s been in one place a long time. I went to move it today for the first time in forever and the carpet was wet underneath. I’m thinking it’s my sweat but I’m worried it is something else. In your experience would sweat get through those cracks and create a large pool that basically never dries because of the coverage of the mat?

simple answer - yes.

(if you really want to check - see how salty the liquid is…)

Water will get through anything that’s not actually waterproof. It may even be soaking through the mat if it’s an open cell foam type.

Thanks. Yea so I discovered this last night. Woke up this morning and it was already dried. So very surface level. Also the underside of the mat where it was wet had a white ring, likely salt. I feel better. I know it’s a dumb question but i have dealt with water intrusion and mold in the past (albeit in a different house) so I’m a little skittish

I use a simple yoga mat under mine.
