Touring and then Ironman (which wheels?)

Perhaps some of you will think negatively of me because my approach to an Ironman is less than conventional, but still, I seek advice.

I live in Toronto and will be touring across Canada to Vancouver (4500km trip). Ironman Canada is in Penticton and I will make a stop here for Ironman Canada. I will have an extended stop in Calgary (a few days by bike from IMC) to tapper off from a long trip of cycling.

My problem: I have two sets of wheels. Training wheels, and Zipps with Dura Ace hubs. The training wheels are clinchers and the Zipps are Tubulars. Obviously I would like to ride my tubulars for the race, but I do not want to ride them across Canada, nor do I think it would be very easy considering all the possible punctures I will receive.

What do you guys think? Just ride my clinchers? Am I just stupid? You can tell me, it won’t hurt my feelings.

Ride the clinchers across the country.
Ship the Zipp’s to Calgary.
Change wheel’s when you get there …go race.
Problem solved

ride your training wheels. rent race wheels from one of the retailers at the venue. I’m not sure if www.racedaywheels.com is there or not, but that would be a good option.

BTW cool trip. on my to do list.

Ride your trainers to Penticton with the biggest, toughtest Gatorskins you can fit ('cuz the Trans-Can is a Hell-Road)

Ship your zipps to Bikebarn in penticton, schedule a clean and Tune with Will and the Boys at 'The barn, Go race.

Ship it all home when you are done
enjoy
