Pretty sweet for the first days prologue, super short 2.8 miles. DZ is second after the TT.

Armstrongs development team is here, Rock Racing, team type 1, Garmins development team and DZ by himself. Should be fun.

WTF floyd get back in the aero bars!!!

anyone know how things are going for him? has the new hip been holding him back? he hasn’t shown anything near his former form.

This was a pretty tight turn, one guy went down and his tube exploded. One other guy went wide, started skidding and ended up riding in the dirt, he went clear up a dirt berm and never stopped pedaling the whole time. It was awesome.

Floyd looked relaxed and wasn’t hammering it, we will see how the hills treat him the rest of the week.

i had a spot on a team there but bailed for a different race; now i’m jonesing to be there. if you see a short old guy on zteam (the only one on a specialized bike), yell extra loud at him. he’s a teammate (on loan to zteam for this race) and at 40, going for the gray jersey.

More pics, lots of nice bikes in this one. It was funny to see rock racings bikes. They had several different brands with tape over all the logo’s.

great pics, they really lean those TT bikes down on some of the turns.

I see the Fuji with more tape than paint on it!

Keep an eye out for our own Paul Thomas. 40 years old and trying to hang with the big boys there. He was supposed to call me with his results, but haven’t heard from him yet. He had a bad patch a couple weeks ago in training, so hope he has come good for this race. Probably the 3rd toughest American stage race we have now. See if you can get some pics of him and his Kuotas…

Wonderful pics, thanks for sharing. I used to live in the Avenues (near Capitol Hill) so lots of good memories…

I will share some more pics from saturdays stage. It runs from Park City up to Snowbird Ski resort.

Stage 1 is over

I just talked to Paul Thomas, and he was with that lead break with 3k to go on the final climb, and some guy swung across the road and clipped his front wheel. Went down, bent the rear dropout, and eventually got a new bike to ride, only it was for a guy 5’6"… He was really stoked with his form, and was easily going to finish with that lead group, but as it sometimes happens in bike races, shit happens. Cost him 10 minutes today…

But he got a new Kuota from the local shop, and he is ready for tomorrows stage. I think he said mostly flat til the end, then a 30k hillclimb finish. If he didn’t blow his form chasing on the kiddie bike today, it should be a good stage for him being that he was climbing with the leaders today…

Go Pauly!!!

I would think that climbing mount lemmon prepared him well for the canyons in utah. Very impressive riding by Paul, also in yesterdays TT. Thanks for pointing out that he is racing, Monty. This will be fun to watch. And yes…

Go Pauly!!!
