Tour of CA Palomar/Escondido hotel ideas?

Hey Folks… any cheap, clean, hotel ideas for the last stage, Tour of CA. Thinking it will be easier to stay the night before.

I am imagining it will be pretty crowded traffic wise, so a hotel might just be easier.

Cheers, and thanks in advance,

Trisha

Towards Palomar: Harrahs Rincon, Pala Casino, Hampton Inn San Marcos, Lawrence Welk

Not sure about RB.

Quite a few hotels around Rancho Bernardo(start) and in Escondido (finish). If you are planning on Palomar Mt. the Harrahs is your best choice. After all thats where we usually meet/start our Palomar Mt climb

I cant believe they will start the stage about a mile from my house and will do Highland Valley Rd climb. (one of my loops) Too bad they are not going all the way up. There are some 16% climbs.

It will be an awesome stage but I would design it even better

Wow… just looked Harrahs is $259 on the 21st WOW! I would expect to be in a pace car for that price.

Pala looks to be much cheaper… anyone go there? Is the smoke unbearable in that place?

or you could just connect with a group, and ride out
.

Ah…well, yes, but I am not going alone, and my legs might not carry me well from La Jolla. :stuck_out_tongue:

ok, then there is always … http://treksandiego.com/page.cfm?pageId=312

Now you’re talkin… They will take my bike and drive me? Sold.

Gary you rule.

… still have to figure out the sched too - but I have to go, I was at the rose bowl in 08 and long beach in 07, for ToCA

Have see a KOM stage in Santa Barbara, Ending stage in Long Beach, and Thousand Oaks… still amazes me how fast they go up hill… I have no desire to get any swag at the expo at the end.

One thing I noticed in the KOM stage in Santa Barbara… the people who walked ON THE STREET right after the first group raced by not knowing there were more riders right behind them!..The dopes nearly got run down before I pulled them in by their shirt collar!

The is on the other side of the casino floor with its own entrance.
