So I watching the tour de france and wondering why all the pros are riding carbon bikes, and not titanium or aluminum. If they can ride any bike they want and price is not option then why not titanium. Thanks Kathy

carbon is superior to titanium. DUH!
Yeah I guess EVERYONE is as smart as you, and should know this stuff. It was a question, and I can do without your DUH, you retard!
he forgot to write in pink…excuse him…
And with new frames every season, there’s really no need for them to worry about carbon longevity.
I apologize… I forgot to write in pink… I was joking around.
Carbon bikes offer superior aerodynamics as it’s easier to shape the tubes.
You can make the bike a lot more rigid with carbon as well.
apology accepted. Thanks for the info
The pros love carbon because all things being equal it’ll be lighter than ti and supposedly a smoother ride than aluminum.
subconsciously because it has the word car in it,
also the reason why planet x bikes have caught on so much,
rocket shoes, jet wheels… good ideas, more blatant, yes, but not quite as successful because they haven’t figured out the power behind subliminal advertising yet,
that’s why more carnac shoes are sold than rockets,
now a pro on a carbon planet x bike with carbon jet wheels and carnac shoes… i shudder to think about the power.
that is all…
krgregg has it right. The reason a manufacturer wants its bikes in the race is for the publicity: fans will want to buy the bike they see on TV. It doesn’t matter whether carbon is technically superior or not, it’s in style. Since that’s where the action is in the marketplace, that’s what the riders are given to ride. The riders are nothing more than human billboards; they don’t get to choose their bikes, or the entities advertized on their clothing.
Because there are basically no limits on how carbon fiber can be shaped, allowing any aerodynamic ideas to become reality, and because it has an incredible strength to weight ratio.
and because they can claim a superior bike, they can charge a higher price.
ill take an al cannondale over a carbon 6 days out of the week. gotta rest some times
