I was just going through the names of my competitors, looks like Torbjørn Sindballe is one of them!
How fast is a guy like him going to race? It is always exciting to see how triathletes are doing against us roadies
It is a 41,9 km. time trial with a couple of hills (going from 10 to 60 meters above sealevel) and gently rolling terrain at most of the route. It has a turn-around halfway, but other than that: just a few corners.
Proabaly way too short for him, but he will be respectable. My guess is within 4 minutes of the winner…40k tt’s are very specialized, and require a lot of speed and strenght. Proabably have to go to 100k for most triathletes to get really competitive…It will be fun to see where his fitness is right now though…I think Bjorn is also racing the Sweedish nationals soon too. I think he said he was doing the RR and the TT…
He, He you are probally right!
I’m one of the smaller guys, and not really a time trial specialist, so I actually like some hills to brake the rythm a bit
He is going to get smoked. Damned fast rider in long distance tri obviously, but even Bjorn got taken for almost 3 minutes over 50km last year. Denmark seems to be somewhat less competitive than Sweden, at least with respect to average speed (over a shorter course too), so maybe he will do a little better. Still, plenty of CSC riders hailing from Dk.
I really have to disagree - cycling is a larger sport in Denmark than sweeden, with a lot of new continental teams here in Denmark + pro riders.
I think A LOT of riders are going to ride a respectable time at the Danish TT championships - making it harder for Sindballe.
I’m just going by average speed, without any knowledge of the courses in question.
Sweden was >49km/hr over 50km, and Denmark was >46km/hrm over ~40km.
If the course warranted the lower average speed, then I conceed the point. Otherwise, consider your whole country SPANKED by the Sweedish Doodes.
Oh yeah - last year was a nightmare - an out an back course - but the “back” part was a lot longer - and with a HUGE headwind.
Try comparing the years before - MUCH larger field of riders going “fast” i Denmark.
But you are right, I haven’t been. I would like to come and visit all of Europe in the future, but for now I must stay here in the US so my company has someone to do all the IT work on top of my real job of applications programming

Suprisng that the 2006 Danish TT Champion Brian Vandborg (Team Discovery) didn’t win.
Brian Vandborg (then riding for CSC) finished 4th at the 2006 TT World Championships only missing the podium by less than 4 seconds and only beaten by his then two CSC teammates Cancellara and Zabriskie + Vinokurov with a few seconds. But Vandborg is not in good race form and hasn’t shown any of his TT skillls after switching from Team CSC to Discovery before this season.
Results from the 2006 ITT World Championships:
1 Fabian Cancellara (Switzerland) 1.00.11.75 (50.664 km/h)
2 David Zabriskie (United States Of America) 1.29.97
3 Alexandr Vinokurov (Kazakhstan) 1.49.72
4 Brian Bach Vandborg (Denmark) 1.53.10
5 Sebastian Lang (Germany) 2.08.85
6 Vasili Kiryienka (Belarus) 2.13.65
7 Leif Hoste (Belgium) 2.31.28
8 Michael Rogers (Australia) 2.31.86
9 Andriy Grivko (Ukraine) 2.45.03
10 Vladimir Gusev (Russian Federation) 2.53.71
…
And as a service for chicanery, the results of the Swedes:
25 Gustav Larsson (Sweden) 4.23.46
…
29 Thomas Lövkvist (Sweden) 4.59.26
Also a big disappointment by Michael Blaudzun (three time Danish TT champion in 2001, 2003 and 2005), to only finish 7th. He is regarded as the 2nd best Danish TT rider behind Brian Vandborg. He said he got cramps in his legs during the race, but to finish any lower than 1st or 2nd is a big disappointment by him.
#12 Lars Ulrich, is that the drummer from Metallica - lol I guess not. I know he’s was one of Denmark’s best tennis players before Metallica and his farther was a pro tennis player playig in Wimbledon.
Not too bad, in fact quite respectable, just about a minute and a half off the podium, about the same as Bjorn in the Swedish tt’s, after his disasterous wheel change…Hope he can get on here and tell us what happened, or at least someone that knows him. I’m sure at this time of year he is in full triathlon training, but wonder if the race went smooth…

That’s exactly what I was about to say!
My time was just as I expected, and I think it was fine compared to my current form. I should have had a little extra in the end - lost alittle time on the last 5 km. Allan Johansen from CSC must really have had a BAD DAY…
I think it is really nice to see some of the danish continental riders beating pros!
Hey Lars, congrats on your race. I don’t care what anyone says, all you guys are smoking fast…and kudos to Torbjorn…nice to see the tristuds stepping up to race in the individual sport specialists.
