TOPIC: Sunglass Lenses

Yesterday, I received in the mail a set of replacement lenses for my Rudy Projects. They are the POLAR 3FX GREY model.

Two things which I immediatly noticed.

  1. Doesn’t seem to be any glare. Normally, when riding through a tree lined area, I’ve had difficulty seeing the road due to glare, shade, glare, shade as the sun peaks through sections. These lenses allow me to see the road ahead even in this type of lighting situation.

  2. These lenses does something to the face of my POLAR HR Monitor. Where it’s diffcult to actually see the information unless you get the perfect angle.

It’s the polarization of the lenses that does both of these things. Reduces glare by preventing light along the horizontal plane from passing through the lens (ie the reflected light off a wet street, water, etc.). The face of your PolaR hrm is also polarized and these two polarized planes are perpendicular to each other no light will pass through. Try rotating the HRM by 90 degrees and see what happens.
