Only one or two were really bad, and they didn’t even include some of the more spectacular ones, like Phinney going through the rear window of a support car, etc.
The track one was brutal, though.

I wouldn’t have wanted to be involved in ANY of them. Hope the mountain biker was alright.
The mountain biker’s friends - “Oh, hell.” I think my reaction might’ve been a little different. More panicked, maybe? The big track one is astonishing. Also, watch the wheel as the first rider hits a dog - gone! Taco’d!

Dang, now I gotta go watch that one again. I missed the taco’d dog.

We had a big discussion about how feeble that wheel was at the time. And some genius came up with something along the lines of “another french lab ruins the tour”.

There’s another track crash. I met the guy who goes over his bars about 2 days after it happened. He had a lot of track rash and still a bunch of splinters. His 808 front was crushed but otherwise his P3C track is fine. He was just catching up to the back of the group after lapping them and was doing 30-ish MPH when he hit the guy…ouch.
Jalabert @ 94 Tdf 1st stage.
.
What was that awful one when Djamouladin Abdoujaparov hit the barriers in the field sprint? Awful. Total yard sale.
Gawd, I remember that one. Wasn’t that because a cop was trying to take pictures of the sprint and stepped in front of the peloton? We called him Ab-du-crashalot after that.
Not a bad crash, but I was at the TDF in 1999 on Alpe du Huez when the German kid with a camera stepped in front of Guerini in the last kilo. You heard the collective groan over 1 million people simutaneously all over the mountain when that happened. That kid was lucky he did not get lynched by the mob up there that day.

Saw that MTN bike one on TV, the guy was unhurt oddly. Also, unprepared for the trail and out of his league.
Oh, that one was worse- some Belgian fellow went down like a ton of bricks- ended his career . Laurent Jalabert went down hard in that one also. Awful. The Policeman was hit twice. Full on yard sale.
I love showing that video to my non cyclist friends. They all invariably make the comment that thousands of dollars in cycling equipment practically disintegrates in a crash. The way that video plays back, you could mistake that wheel for tissue paper!
was it the TdF a few years back where a fan stuck a stupid cardboard hand on a stick out and wound up hitting on the sprinters at the very end of the race? I remember it not looking bad at first, but it really cut the guy up.
What about the 95’ Tour when Fabio Casartelli(Team Motorola) hit his head on a curb while descending? That was probably the worst one EVER that I can remember because he died… Terrible watching it live!!! Then, LA when on to win the next stage in memory of him.

2004 and Thor Hushold. We were there. He bled a lot as that green PMU hand was like a razor.

This one is not so bad, and you can’t see the whole thing in this clip. This is what happens when you ride through someone’s madison exchange, The guy in Neon Yellow rode between the blue team previously in the race, the video picks up as the two continued on the track, the blue rider held the other guy low, so he couldn’t get up over the exchange between the St. John’s RED/White team.

Dirty move, that guy in the blue is a jerk on the bike. St. John was ok, I think Mark Freed broke his collarbone.
