Top speeds @ IMLP

i hit 52mph after a spot of breaking and swerving due to the crowds on lap 1…

a mere 44mph max on the second loop!

I hit 66.1 last year going down that hill on the first lap. This year I descended like a big puss and I dont think I went over 50…

(cough - bullshit - cough cough

I don’t think that Bjorn, wearing an aero lead jacket, and pedaling a 90x10 could go 66 down that hill.

Methinks yer computer was miscalibrated. That’s at least a dozen mph faster than anything I’ve ever heard uttered by anybody who has ever done that descent.

I know your quads are indeed colossal and all, but c’mon now.

I took a pic because I couldnt believe it myself. QR Typhoon, Zipp 909’s I think I raced at 190.

Holy crap! That’s flying! What was your bike split?? 4:30?

That’s my bike computer! How did you get that picture?!

Damn! Foiled again!!!

OK, but at the end of the ride, did you notice that the ODO said you had ridden 140 miles?
hahaha!

Crikey - that’s f’n flying!!! You obviously didn’t have Tufos on yer bike.

(but - it’s still easily a dozen mph faster than anything I’ve ever heard from any other rider going down Keene. You woulda easily been going 20+ mph faster than the average cyclist that day if so.)

OK - my last gasp effort at mythbusting. Perhaps at some point when the bike was being racked or whatever, the magnet was passed back and forth by the pickup very quickly, I’ve gotten some bizarre and inaccurate readings on mine this way on occasion.

(My PT hub occasionally thinks I’m riding at 14mph when I’m not even moving. How’s that for bizarre?)

It seems you have never raced a USAT course where you have complained about cattle guards at the begining of the course, been told they would be covered (first one was) and then went over them trying to get around back of packers and felt like a certain british nanny’s baby afterwards. Some parts of roads can get bad depending on where you have to ride as well, ie unmarked potholes or lightly marked on 35 mph sections. I would apologize for being in a foul mood if i really meant it.

I know well the challenges of riding on aweful roads. Some of the roads in my area are truely terrible - frost heaved, pot-holed, cracked and poorly patched, sometimes strewn with mud and manure. Sometimes the gravel or dirt roads are better than the paved!! What I have found works flawlessly is two bomb-proof and secure, frame mounted bottle cages & bottles and nothing else on the bike. Carry my spare and a C02 in my back pocket. This way I never loose anything.
