Thos of us who have jobs and families have very little to train. Idleness is a wast of ou time.
Having said that, everyone needs some sort of outlet, i.e. some sort of activity that gives you a break from the strenuous routine.
I live in golf community, so golf would seem like a no-brainer. Most of my neighbors play golf all the time. I personally can’t stand the sport. Too time consuming, and too boring.
How about IPT meetings where we have to bring people up to speed an rehash/refight every decision we made in the last 6 months because the other folks on the IPT didn’t bother to pay attention when we asked for comment.
least: my wife sitting on me sitting on someone else’s wife
N.B.: Even my most boring activity is actually quite pleasant. If you’re bored by golf, International Law classes, etc., just try to have your wife or girlfriend sit on you. Works great, especially in golf. (Scoring a hole in one is bound to endear the sport to you.)
I’ve actually always found running to be very boring compared to cycling. I do run regularly but have never really liked it that much. Often I will find any excuse to do some other activity. Today is a good example. I was planning on going out for a run but then grabbed my x-country skis and went skiing for
two and a half hrs instead. Easy for me to justify since x-country skiing is a better work out, even though not tri specific. Plus I enjoy x-country skiing almost as much as cycling.
#1 is sitting in a waiting room(dr, dentist, etc.), hands down.
Something that is kind of “boring” is hiking or trail runs without any music or anyone to talk to. Boring in the best way possible though, its great to be out there without anyone talking for no reason, no music, no cars going by, or anything. Boring can = peaceful, which is always welcome.
