Too bad for Bono .

Bush nominated Wolfowitz for head of the World Bank.

How did the joke go?

(from The Daily Show-paraphrasing, of course)

"J. Stewart: So let me get this straight; the only way to advance in this administration is through failure?

Reporter: Not failure Jon, Colossal failure."

Israel approves.

I think it’s a step forward that Wolfy might be a little farther away from a direct national policy-making function. Unfortunately, it’s only a baby step, given the recent return of Karen Hughes. That woman makes me crazy every time she opens her mouth; I can’t imagine she’ll do a whole lot to improve our relations with the Middle East.

Bonus.

Yeah, I don’t get the love affair the press seems to have with her either.

Is the World Bank allowed to start wars???

lets hope not.

Is the World Bank allowed to start wars???

You tell me, you’re the banker.

Heard some guy on NPR speculate that Wolfie might be inclined to attempt to tie World Bank aid to democratic reform. The NPR dude was horrified at the thought, but I’m not sure what’s wrong with that approach. Frankly, if it’s true, the tragedy would be that he didn’t get the job, like, three years ago.
