Tongue issues

Sunday I was skiing and at a rather high rate of speed caught air and did something when I landed which caused a fall. Apparently I was “starfished” as I hit and then went over the edge into the trees. I hit with my back and back of my head, hard enough that I bit part ways through my tongue (stupid tree).

Come Monday I have problems lifting my arm very high so I decide to ditch my swim class. But, I was thinking, would there be any potential issue with my tongue at the pool - am I risking any infection for a period of time? It stopped bleeding within 1/2 an hour to an hour on Sunday but is still bruised and hurts where I bit it.

I have another swim class on Wednesday and the arms and shoulders will be fine although there are some sore spots but is there any potential issue with my tongue?

Your mouth is so full of bacteria that I am sure that your tongue wound is already well colonized.

I would not worry for a second about swimming and getting an infection in your tongue.
