The shop is named Bikesport, Inc. but is popularly being known as Bikesport Michigan for a couple reasons. A fella in Texas has the bikesport.com URL and isn’t interested in selling it to us despite a pretty hefty offer we made. So our URL has remained bikesportmichigan.com
I sure wish we could convince him to sell it- it would make life a lot easier on our readers and customers and us. But he has a fine shop, also conincidentally named Bikesport- no relation- so it is fair and he does do a nice job there. Nice guy too.
We originally were going to call the store “Bike A Go Go” (I’m serious) but we are next door to a church and they were understandably not comfortable with that name. We came up with the Bikesport, Inc. name in about five minutes standing in the attorney’s office when we were drafting the articles of incorporation over 11 years ago. It made us sound big.
When we opened we had 20 bikes in stock. Now we have sold literally thousands of road and triathlon bikes.

“Bike A Go Go”
Definately has a retro 60’s ring to it. All you need is women in micro mini-skirts and white go-go boots dancing in the window. Remember the line in the anti Viet Nam war song by Country Joe and the Fish on the Woodstock album about “C’mon Wall Street don’t be slow, let’s turn this into a war a go go”.
That was the visual we were going for.
