Tom, what wheelset did you use at Steelhead?
Zipp disc, 404 in the front, both with TUFO.
thank you.
He was being sarcastic.
I’m pretty sure I nailed it ![]()
.
And I thought the Tufos were a dead give away for the sarcasm.
Tom is on record as being a tufo guy
.
He rode Zipp 909s, which is as Paulo stated a 404 and disc with Conti Competitions.
Actually I think the front was an 808.
Sorry I missed you at Steelhead. I don’t know if I can be coached by someone who I have not met.
I’m pretty sure it was the 909 set, but i’ll check today when i drop by the shop at lunch.
P.S. Trianthes, wow you’re fast, congrats on the race!
Shoot. Paulo does indeed know everything about triathlon : (
Thanks for the congrats!
Paulo is pretty darn close. I used a pair of Zipp 909’s (as Paulo mentioned, 404 front, Zipp disk rear) but I did use Continental 22mm wide Competition tires at 140 psi due to the rough pavement in the chip n’ seal section for a little better ride quality. The wheels seemed to work out very well.
Last year at Steelhead used a 100mm deep front wheel and disk rear. The 100mm deep front was a trifle too deep for my taste and felt a bit cross-windy.
Overall, I was pretty darn impressed with how well my equipment- right down to the new Wigwam socks I wore on the run on the recommendation of Matt Nyquist and Sean Peecher- worked.
