Tom D, your pics have been stolen again

Check out Ebay item # 3668187016. It’s an auction for a 2003 Dual, the pics are straight from Tom’s review (including the Azoto seat) and the component table is from a Soloist (I think). Gee, and the seller has zero feedback too. A scam on Ebay? Never!

I emailed the seller, asking why none of the components listed matched the pictures. I’ll post a follow-up if there’s a response.

I also find that people either lie or fail to provide accurate model years. For instance, there have been matte black P3s for sale listed as “2002,” and yellow P3s listed as 2003.

I like how he claims that it has Ultegra STI levers when it clearly has bar end shifters. Ask him about that.

Newsflash - Energizer Bunny Arrested! Charged with battery

We get content stolen from our site all the time. The nature of the Internet is there isn’t a whole lot we can do to prevent it at this point. Maybe in the future.

watermark “BikeSport Michigan” on the photos in Photoshop

Create a new layer, select font and color - type BikeSport Michigan, select blending options (in v.7), blend mode normal, bring the opacity down to about 10%

No more theft!!

This sucker is so fake. Sent the following email this morning (just to toy with them):

"I’m very interested in your bike.

  1. How much to ship to Canada? 2. What online money payment services do you take? 3. This bike came equipped with Shimano 105, not Ultegra. Why is Ultegra listed? 4. Why are STI shifters mentioned, when the photo shows bar end shifters?"

Got this back in response: “Hello,` the shipping will be free, because will be included in the price.I will need to know your offer for it?”
Ripoff much? So, what do people think about a little eBay vigilantism? Start bidding ridiculous amounts for bikes we know are fake on eBay, etc, so we drive the price up, and no one can get ripped off?

I fired off a complaint to ebay customer service outling all of the points raised in this discussion. Even included a link to Tom’s review so that Ebay could see where the images most likely came from!

Michael

Can you explain how that works?

If someone bids US$10,000 and “wins” the auction, isn’t he bound by ebay’s rules to pay up? How does driving the price up accomplish anything?

I love this componet list:

Shift/Brake: levers Shimano Ultegra STI – looks like Dura Ace bar end to me

Front derailleur: Shimano Ultegra 9-speed – no, it is Shimano 105 (Ultegra not available in black)
Rear derailleur: Shimano Ultegra 9-speed – again, Shimano 105

Crankset: Shimano Ultegra – looks like FSA Gossamers to me
Bottom bracket: Shimano Ultegra

Wheels: Shimano R540 – Labels says Ritchey on the rim in one image!
Tires: Vittoria Rubino Pro – not sure but looks like it says Kenda on front tire!

Michael

Ideally. But if this is a “fake” user, are they really going to take steps to report you to eBay?

Like stealing from thieves…are they going to report you to the police?
