I think that is a grimace of pain, Tom looks to be impaled in a tender place by the drop of Sheila’s bars!

You gotta be on the beach there. There is a concrete trail that runs immediately along the beach. Not readily apparent in the pic. Pretty cool race here this a.m. Washing Machine swim but all else was cool. The “elite” swim area was more protected as it was inside the existing reef.
Tom smiling…alone on the beach…with a lady…in a speedo…with only the most romantic machine in world between them…is anyone else wanting to join in insinuating something?

Well, let me say, that was one absolutely incredible race. Amazing. I have a tough time naming an aspect of the event that wasn’t wonderful.
Geez, guys, I had no idea Waikiki was so beautiful. We had a blast. Surfing, eating, shopping, swimming, running, riding, more surfing… Awesome.
Somewhere in there was an amazing race. Sheila’s entourage from USAT- Di and Amie, were fantastic people to work with. It was a great experience playing a small role in that event and being part of Sheila’s team.
I also met some slowtwitchers there including hairy legs who kicked butt in his age category in the morning race under tough, windy conditions- and man, his legs are hairy!
Overall, incredible. The smile says it all…

You’ve been all over the world and didn’t know Waikiki was so beautiful? You surprise me once again, but I still love yah.
BTW I’ve been there too and it is incredibly beautiful. For that matter, anywhere I have been in the Hawaiian Islands have been incredibly beautiful. They are gems for sure.
On a side topic., have you recovered fully from being impaled by the bar? It looked really painful but yet you put forth such a convincing smile. I know you have a high tolerance for pain. Is that is what makes you are an Ironman? Or are you a masochist? Or both?
