In the “What are you eating” thread you mention this stuff. It was big when I was doing a lot of weights but I’ve never used any of that type of thing. Is it the real deal? How long have you been on it? Results?
Thanks

Used to be Ephedra (Ma Huang) and Caffeine (Guarana). Now, it is just caffeine plus some other herbs. Used to for sure be the real deal – very real boost, plus a real chance for a heart arythmia.
Now it is the same as all the other “fat burners” – little bit of green tea, little bit of cayenne pepper, LOTS of caffeine (which does hope to burn fat).
It’s cheaper to buy some green tea extract and drink a cup of coffee.
I’ve heard good reviews about it…and also know (1st hand) a 52 year old who attributed his mild heart attack to it.
As with any supplement, be careful.
I did used to drink the Chinese tea with ma huang (I forgot about that), my heart rate went through the roof and I got the shakes bad, bad, bad. Wasn’t worth it.
Kind of odd Tom would put that kind of garbage in his body along with large amounts of Starbucks, yet he thinks alcohol is such a “poison”. Strong stimulant, mild depressant, ones not more evil than the other in my book so long as driving is not involved.
First of all, it’s illegal in Canada so that tells a bit about the product.
Second, I’ve tried it three times : First time before a big Thai Boxing training…Man I was on fire. Second time was on a recommandation from a friend to try it for a night of love…let’s say she was impress and that it was a good thing that she was able to follow for the 5 times because even after that, I was ready for more!!! The third and last time was before a fight. The fight went well but I had palpitation after the bout. That was pretty scary, no trouble breathing but the heart was going berserk.
So it can be fun to try, but it is still dangerous. The other problem is the addiction. A friend of mine was using it and started using it more and more. It blinds the body signals, but you are still tired. More and more, he kept using it every time he was tired…you see the picture
Illeagal in Canada? Are you sure? I thought I’d seen it in the “Health Food” stores (health food being relative words).
I never really thought about it as an addictive substance but I could see why it would be. I drink way too much coffee.

I’m pretty much sure but could be wrong. There’s a fitness nutrition shop in quebec city that was selling it but you had to know about it since it was backstore. A few years ago, ther was a police intervention and they were cought with lots of illegal stuff. The papers mentionned Ripped Fuel among them and I know they stopped selling it…except to who they know…
Second, I’ve tried it three times :
You did know that the label suggests one to build up gradually while using Ripped Fuel, right?
IMO, that’s where the problem comes in … no one wants to wait and build up gradually … peole wanna lost fat NOW!! DAMMITT!!! NOW!!! and don’t follow the recommendations or the amounts, and then have health issues. Surprising, isn’t it? People don’t realize that they didn’t get fat in 4 weeks, they won’t get lean in 4 weeks.
I agree with Rappstar said … used to be pretty darn good, since then changes have made it a “strong cup of coffee”. Over-rated. Over-rated. Over-rated. clapclapClap-clap-clap
I wonder if, now that they’ve taken the ephidrine out of it, it may be available for sale here again?

I did not know for the gradually, but I took one pill each time and my friend was taking two.
And by the way I did not do it to lose weight, I dont need it at all. I just tried it because someone told me about the speed effect on your training.
John, It think you’re right, what made it illegal when I tried it a couple of years ago was the ephedrin. If there’s none now, it might be legal.
I take about 6 a day, mostly to operate on minimum sleep- which is the norm for me. It is a staple in the military when you have to go for a long time on minimum sleep.
I’m not sure if there are any other benefits. Basically, I take it so I can work longer hours. I was writing web copy until 3:00 AM last night and back in the store at 6:00 AM for some further photo editing and then to go on our morning ride. So I just use it to stay awake.

Sorry. I “guesstimated” that you took a “few”. It’s surprising what effect just one cap had on you.
I also took it to prepare for workouts, namely hard squat workouts.
Tom, I have done similar things. When I was finishing college, working at a marketing company, coaching baseball, and student teaching, I needed something to help me cope with 3-4 hours sleep a night. Ripped Fuel worked and I combined it with high amounts of Vit-C and multi’s to keep my immune system going. I wouldn’t advise doing it for sustained periods of time. Now, be sure to floss and wash behind your ears and eat your greens.
There would be some days when I was working on spreadhseets or data-entry at the marketing company and my legs would be shaking (toe-tapping, etc) for hours. R-Fuel, after a bit, just made me really (REALLY) figetty. Honestly, now (age 32) caffeine does more to disrupt my quality of sleep than it does “pick me up”. It’s amazing that when I do not consume caffeine (during the day or night) that 6 hours of sleep “feels like 9”

It’s not odd. He’s actually given a pretty understandable reason why he doesnt like alcohol.
Dont take it as personal attack on Tom, It was just an observation.
No worries. Some day I will die- that is for sure. Don’t know when. Until then, I gotta lot of shit I gotta do, and not much time for sleep. Typical deal.
