Tom D "Aerobar advice"

I’m looking to replace the syntace C2 bars that came on my bike with something that is adjustable. I want to bring the shifters back towards me. My current position is fine but my hands are below the shifters and I have to reach up to shift. If my hands are on the shifters then my arms are to stretched out.I can’t afford to go any higher with the elbow pads as I already have all the spacers out. I hope this makes sence.

I noticed the new profile T2+ bars. They look like they might work. Are the pads as low as the syntace? Do you know of any other bar? I don’t want to spend a fortune. What about the Deda clip ons.

Thanks in advance for any advice you may have.

The T2+ looks very promising. Do they exist? Like most “S” bend product they are likely to be in scarce supply for a while. Another zero-dollar strategy may be to just cut your Syntace to length so the shifters are in the appropriate location.

The T2+ is an interesting product, but I think the F-19 elbow pads may be a trifdle high for some people’s taste.

Not Tom D., but it sounds to me like you need to cut down your bars so that the shifter is in your hand, rather than having to reach up.

Syntace pads are quite high. Quite a few bars have lower pads these days.

I am testing the Deda bars as we speak. Check my blog, and you will find them in the next few days.

Thanks Tom

I thought of cutting them down. I been told to use plumbers pipe cutters rather that hack saw. Is that the way to go?

Use a pipe cutter, then clean the cut area with a file or a dremel. This will assure that the shifter will install cleanly.

Do like Slowman…cut your C2’s off…make 'em shorter…

What did you end up using to cut them down? I see they have something on the Syntace web site - Speedcutter. Sounds like it’d do a nice job but it’s pretty spendy.

Thanks.
