Toe space in road shoe

I ride a Specialized TriVent size 42.5, and recently figured I’d get a ‘regular’ road shoe for all those training rides. Got a pair of Specialized Carbon Pro Road shoes, same size, and lo and behold, the shoe measures longer than the TriVent, and has about .6 mm more room in the toe box. Rest of the the shoe fits like a glove, though, no sliding back and forth with the straps and buckle snug. What I’m wondering now is how much space should a good road shoe allow in front of the toes? Or, should I go and exchange them for a smaller size?

Thanks!

Well, I think one obvious problem there is the Trivent was designed to be worn without socks, while the Carbon Pros are to be worn with socks, hence the extra room. As far as the spacing, I have no idea.

.6mm?

How many warming hampsters do you usually put in your shoes?

well, that should have been .6 cm. Damn egg nogg
