Today I join the GAY FOR LANCE mafia

because he linked this on his twitter

.

If you are following him on Twitter, doesn’t that mean you were already in that mafia?

good point…

There is a true consensus about evolution among reputable scientists in fields related to evolution. Certain press reports to the contrary, the same is not true of global warming.

Also, maybe I’m missing something here, but what does this have to do with Lance, aside from the facts that he lives in Texas and that you love to make cutting remarks about him?

Rob in Cl, I’m not aware of any reputable climatologist that doesn’t think mans activities are making the globe warmer. The only debate is over how big of a problem that is.

Also, what this has to do with Lance is stated clearly in my original post. I do not know how I can be more clear.

Also, I don’t feel that my remarks are all that cutting, but that is because I have a more cynical view of the world in general perhaps. I don’t have that much of a problem with the fact that he enables doping in cycling, drops wives as fast as he does pro cyclists, or hooks up with girls half his age.

I just like to point out these things when people hold him up as an example of a great american role model and other such bullshit =)

So 95 percent believe in global warming but thats not enough for some people who know nothing about the subject except whatever Bush has told them.

Well reality isn’t really decided by percentages of agreement anyway. The evidence that human activities are making the earth warmer is very robust and clear. Most people who doubt it aren’t aware of what it is, they think its just “computer models” so understandably they are skeptical. There is a difference between the real science and the stuff you hear in the media or from politicians and journalists.

Anyway I am more referring to the general distrust of science that Lance is calling attention to in his twitter. I applaud him for this =)

Jack, please take the time to simply google before you make such statements.

“Rob in Cl, I’m not aware of any reputable climatologist that doesn’t think mans activities are making the globe warmer.”

Cl?

I stand corrected. You don’t enjoy making cutting remarks about him.

Rob, is purple some subtle distinction from pink in terms of sarcasm? haha

jack, it is fun watching the silly banter in Austin. For those not familiar with Texas politics, Austin is where we house all the state’s liberals and alternative types. The more sensible crowd live in the remainder of the state’s big cities.

To quote your article, in the list of

“Believe global warming is not occurring or has ceased”

we have:

  1. former Professor of Geography - whose arguments quoted there do not agree with reality

  2. geologist - again his argument quoted here does not agree with reality

  3. chemist - whose claim is clearly stated but evidence for it not presented in wikipedia so I can’t speak to it.

None of these people are climatologists.

In the list of people who claim:
“Believe global warming is primarily caused by natural processes”

The only climatologist I see who actually supports that view is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marcel_Leroux

No idea if he is reputable, not much info on him =)

There is nothing sensible about creationism Pedalsaurus.

Not that there is anything sensible about Raw foodists and shit either

lol

jack come on now, you weren’t there at the beginning so you never could know for sure. besides i hear that, that Eve girl was quite the looker!

If he’s the only one you see–or even the only one highly respected in the field–then you aren’t looking very closely. In addition, I should also mention that at least one of the people you dismissed is in fact, if you look more closely, a climatologist as well. In any case, since you said you were “not aware of any reputable climatologist,” you would have learned something even if you only noticed the one.

BTW, since the article brings up creationism, I’d like to point out that we having living evidence in this thread that human beings and dinosaurs have in fact coexisted, just as the YEC folks claimed all along. Look, a specimen of Pedalsaurus is posting on this thread right now.

EDIT: You might also find this list of interest. On second thought, you probably won’t.

to the extent that we can know anything at all for sure, yes we can!
=)

Which one? the coal chemist? Founding a group with “climate” in the name does not make one a climatologist

I find it interesting, but it isn’t news to me, everyone familiar with the debate is aware of that list.

There are the same kinds of lists of scientists who don’t believe in evolution either, so what?

=0

Rob, dinos and people did coexist, but then it started to rain and you see Noah, could not build a big enough arc for them all so they all drowned in the flood.
