Buddy is selling a BRAND NEW 1996 Zipp 2001 frame with Durachee 9 speed on it…$1,000.00 (or less)…should I buy it just to have it? God knows I would not really have a need to ride it. (certainly not as it has ShitmaNO on it).
Seriously though, buy it and put the dura-ace 10 on it. Then add the 909 and carbonX’s and you’ve got yourself a very very nice bike.
I have the 909’s and even a 1" Carbon X laying around. I even have a 1" Look HFC fork that is looking for a home…but ShimaNO? That would have to be the FIRST thing to go…
The bike is carbon weave (black). Actually, if anyone is interested - I can get you photo’s and all.
If you REALLY want to, go for it. A year or two ago, I would say go ahead for sure. However, I have found that having more than 2 bikes + mountain bike (FOR ME) is a waste of space and money and is not very practical. As much of a bike geek that I am, having more than 2 bikes is hard to justify. My advice:
If it is just going to collect dust and look cool at your house then you might want to think about the other things that you cuold do with the $1000. If you plan on tracing the shit out of it, then go ahead and get it.
I currently own only 2 bikes. #1 Specialized S-Works road bike (God do I love that frame)
#2 - A trek Hilo fully decked out…as my racer. I sold two frames last season (a cannondale and a Carbon Fibre) because I simply never rode them. At first, I thought that I would want to switch up from day to day, but that got old quick.
I would put the money in the bank and plan a trip. But if you have the lute, go ahead and get it.
NO, if you buy it you will discover that Shimano is actually better and you will have to go through the trouble of unloading all the campy sh!t . . . just walk away . . .

I used to ride D/A…it was like driving an American car…sure I got there. Now I only ride Campy, and only non-Union made cars (some “imports” are US built). I would never ever go back…
My name is Chip, and I am a Campyholoic…I have been ShimaNO free for 10 years…and will never ever go back to second class gear.
