To wear a bow tie to work or not?

Yes, by all means do it. Also wear a “Kick Me” sign on your ass.

I read once that wearing a regular tie is a subtle reminder, while wearing a bow tie emphaizes your ears. Think Prince Charles.

Good point: That’s right - some one wearing a bow tie is a nerd and some guy wearing a one piece tri suit so tight you can tell his religion is a . . . . what?

Fleck

Bowties are awesome. You don’t see too many these days. You don’t see many hats either…other than sports type or ski caps. A nice felt fedora and bowtie will certainly make a statement.

yes…and it will make an even more dramatic statement when worn with a short sleeve shirt
.

NO!!, (unless one of the following applies):

  1. You already have no friends…and never want any.

  2. You are over 50 and a History or English Professor.

  3. You were violated by a Priest when an altar boy.

  4. You are a tall slender leggy woman in high heels, dancing around a pole and it is the only item of clothing you are wearing!

(there may be a few I missed but hopefully you get the point)

Bow ties rock!

You could be taken for a republican. Not saying that’s a bad thing.

Then again, I think Marx wore a bow tie.

yes, George Will and Tucker are the antidote to any bowtie urges I might feel.

Bowties are fine for formal wear (black or white tie, only) but otherwise I’d hesitate. It’s making a statement. What is that statement ?

Now those are two really macho looking guys.
