To Hed Vantage 8 owners

I plan to cut the base bars, just too long. Have you cut yours?
If I cut all the way to the hole for the cable entry, can I make a new cable entry hole by drilling close to the flat portion?

Concerning your question: No clue!

Concerning your front wheel: Turn it around!

I cut mine past the hole, but have fully internal cables for my brakes, so no need to drill a hole.

Ricky,

I know that Dags (Cycling Zone) cut mine a bit). You wanna take a look at it? Don’t PM me (I hardly go on Slowtwitch). PM me via FirstWaveTri or something.

Ricardo,
How many bikes do you have by now? Have fun with this project.

Herbert

yea, turn your front wheel around!!!

It’s OK to cut it down past the cable, I just did that with HED.'s OK.

The bontrager brakes you are using run the brake cable inside the bar and wouldn’t need you to drill a hole.

I also put a little cloth athletic tap on the ends to add a little grip for my hands.

Nat

Thanks Nat for the suggestion.
I got a pair of Profile QSC which are quite nice and designed with an internal cable.
The Bontragers have external cabling.
Problem is, the location of the cable hole on the HED is located too close to where I want to cut it.
If I cut near it, the end will be too weak. If I cut behind it, makes the grab area too small.
Oh well, not a big worry.

If you cut at the hole I see no issues in drilling another cable entry hole. I did this with my Visions when I cut off the upturned end. I also cut down by V 8’s, but the SRAM brake levers run the cable down the inside of the bars so I didnt have any drilling to do. I would put some tape on the bars first and start with a very small angled pilot hole and slowly increase the drill size. Use some new sharp high quality drill bits.

Kevin

I have a cut pair if you would like to trade
