Tire choice hed3

I’ve seen a lot of discussion about a 19mm tire as the best choice for the hed 3 front wheel. But what is the choice in 650c size? I dont think the bonty tt comes in 19mm size in 650c.
So are there good cda 19mm clincher alternatives in 650c size?

I have been running one of these up front, Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX 650c x 20mm . But this is a good question cause I was wondering if there was somthing better.

I get them here, but they seem to be out of stock at this time.

how’s your karma? If you can find it, a Vittoria Ultra Speed is probably the fastest clincher tire out there in 650.They’re damn thin, though–so if you flat it, don’t blame me.

I’ve been running a 23mm Pro Race. I know it’s big but it works well.

I’ve had bad luck with narrower clincher tires and that’s probably cuz I chose the wrong tire for the rim I was using back then. If I was to change it would probably be to the Vittoria Open Corsa Evo CX 650c x 20mm. I have not physically seen the Bonty yet but many people here like that tire.

The bonty tt seems like the best choice but in the 650c i’m afraid that its not available

That’s a 650 but in 23c only. Soo is it better than running a Vittoria Open Corsa in 20c on the front H3?

I use a 23mm Pro Race 3
.

I run 22mm tubulars on my Hed 60 and 90mm rims.

I had an email exchange with someone at HED about the H3 and he indicated I should run a 23mm clincher. He was adamant not to run a 19mm.
Perhaps it was specific to me being a Clydesdale but he did not specify as such.

I am not a clydesdale, 145lbs, and that was the same suggestion I got.

I saw that too but I don’t know if the little flaps help it out.

I’ve been using a 23mm Pro Race (the ironman one) on mine for 2 years. The tire and bead area has a pretty smooth transition. I am very comfortable using the PR so I just stuck with that model. If a local shop had the Open Corsa in a 20 I would probably buy it for racing but I don’t feel comfortable buying a tire online that I’ve never used before.

Quite honestly, I’m not sure that there is much of a RR difference between the two tires. The RR charts don’t include many 650 tires but I’ve been led to believe that the trend follows the 700 results since the construction is very similar.

I’m changing to a Jet 60 for this season and I purchased a PR3 for it. I’m pretty sure it’s the narrower model rim cuz I don’t think the 650 come in a C2. The wheel is in at the shop, I just haven’t picked it up yet. I can post a pic of the tire/rim joint when I get it.

Was that a 650 or a 700?

I’m thinking there probably isn’t that much difference between the tires we are talking about. I also run the 650x23 PR2 on my rear H3 and rear Hed disk, and am very happy with them. It’s just that I hear so often about how important it is to match a narrow tire onto the H3 on the front. If I had it to do over again I would avoid the 650 wheels, the limited tire choice and no latex tubes is a real pain in the A$$.
