Um, call Quintana Roo?

That will probably buff out.

I’ll pray for your bike and if the crack doesn’t disappear till next monday maybe Macho Grande’s advice was better.

Um, call Quintana Roo?

I did wrote to then and got the cheapest option would be to upgrade the customer to a new carbon frame. We are not currently making a titanium Quintana Roo frame. We can offer a 2009 QR Lucero Lite for $1200.00 dollars plus shipping
Not sure what upgrade means here, but I’m sure I can buy new Lucero right now for that $… was wondering if there is something can be done to fix it somehow

Considering the Lucero Lite was a $500 cheaper frame thanks the Ti version in 2008 I’m not sure how they can say it is an ‘upgrade’. Are you the original owner of the frame? if so you should be entitled to a replacement frame of equal or greater value (sucks that the Lucero Ti is gone) In any case, I don’t think that I’d be satified with paying $1,200 for a new frame from QR.

Exactly what I was thinking, provided the OP is the original owner.

Bob

it is sponsored frame for Viktor Zyemtsev, he won Ironman USA on it - too bad they don’t appreciated his efforts : (
.

where’s the crack?

Unfortunately it sounds like that means you are not the original owner, and in addition to that it was a frame that nobody purchased. Seeing that it was a free frame that QR gave to Viktor that I assume he then sold to you I understand why QR isn’t sending out a new free frame.

That being said I’m still not sure that I’d be happy with paying $1200 for a Lucero Lite frame, but maybe that is because I personally would not be happy on a CF frame. This is not the first crack around the internal cabling that I’ve seen on an ABG Ti bike. I’m not sure if Litespeed was attempting to fix them with a filler weld or not, but it sounds like QR has not given you that option. Since the frame is Metal, as long as you can find a compotent Ti welder (of which there are litterally hundreds of in the bike biz) you should be able to have the frame fixed with a filler weld or a patch.

Good luck

???
Are you Viktor Zyemtsev? I’m sure that they appreciated his efforts just fine.

They don’t, however, hold any obligation to the guy (you) that bought the frame on the used market! I don’t know where this mentality comes from? Manufactuer’s put together warranties to support the purchase of new bikes. There was no such arrangement made on your second, or third hand purchase.

Now… we see that bike manufactures are bending over backwards to accommodate people buying bikes on the used market. That’s great that they are standing by their product even though they have no obligation to do so. But I hate that they sometimes get coerced into doing so for fear of public retaliation such as this. Is anyone else bothered by this kind of used bike owner mentality?

You should be lucky that QR even entertained your problem.

I buy bikes on the used marked too. I, at the very least, understand that this likely voids all warranty related claims.

Sorry for the brief rant. This and the Guru thread from yesterday really bothered me.

I believe that triatma is Andriy Yastrebov, an Ironman champion himself, and Viktor’s liason as English is not their native language. I’d assume that he is dealing with QR on behalf of Viktor.

If that’s the case, great. I have no problems with valid claims.

here is QR warranty policy.
http://www.quintanarootri.com/QR_bikes/bike_warranty/bike_warranty.html

All Quintana Roo warranty claims must be processed through an authorized Quintana Roo bicycle retailer.
Quintana Roo warrants to the original consumer that this product is free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use for the periods set forth below, subject to the limitations and requirements contained herein:
QR titanium frames for the lifetime of the frame…
This product is VOID if purchased through Ebay or any other unauthorized auction dealer.

Am I the only one who finds this thread confusing?

-The OP may be 1) a store owner, 2) a former IM champ from Easter Europe, 3) some guy translating for #2, 4) just some average person, and, if #4, they may or may not be the original owner

-We’ve got a photo of a bike frame’s ‘crack,’ without anything that looks like a crack;

-Add in the different QR models, the impending debate on manufacturers’ obligations, and the QR info relayed via the OP… man, I dunno, I’m just lost.

If someone points out the crack on the frame, this might make more sense.

The crack is visible propagating from the down tube cable entry. This is not uncommon. IIRC some poster here was pissed that while Litespeed warrantied the frame, they would not do internal routing for the fix.

I was wondering where the crack was as well. Is this it? I can’t tell if it’s a crack or a shadow from the weld bead.

The OP is Andrey Yasterbov (Ironman champion) and good friend of Victor Zyemtsev (Ironman champion). They were both part of the Timex team and then rode QR bikes at that time. Andrey’s English is much better than Victor’s English, thus Andrey helps him out along those lines. There are no QR dealers where they live in Ukraine so they can’t handle it along those lines. Plus when I worked there we always dealed with Pros direct.

The crack is small but it can be seen.

Hi,
I have been in and arond QR since 1986. I have Dan’s original Superform USA tri bike…among the fleet.

My custom Vortex has a crack, ABG said that they could replace it with an Archon For $2,000…RUBBISH!

I called Specialized, They were happy to get me off a competitors’ bike and gave me a Tarmac SL2 module to get me off the Chattanooga product.

The Vortex now lives on the trainer, next to the Merlin, that she (SO/GF) won’t ride because it has a speed wobble at 48k.

Thanks to Specialized.

In answer to your Q: Many USA builders (Lynskey Performance, Roark, And many regional builders can fix your bike for little money.

FUCK ABG
Let them rot.

I have 5 ABG bikes, none have decals, none are raced by me.
