Looking for something very small and light that I can slip into the mesh pockets I have on the outside of some of my run shorts.
Purely for emergencies. Don’t need a head set or mp3 or gps or text/keybd functions.
While I’m at it, I believe the answer is a big No, but anyone know of a service provider that will allow me to have 2 phones on one line/same number?
You might consider one of the “throw away” type pre-paid phones you can get from 7-11 for emergencies. That way no big loss if you drop it or mess it up and you still get to have whatever everyday phone you want.
Bingo.
Can I get it in purple to go with that sweater?
Phones with SIM cards (like AT&T or Tmobile allow you to switch phones easily. I just picked up a Samsung Jack (not what you are looking for as it’s got a keyboard etc but it is less than 4 ounces and fits in an iPod classic arm band pouch.
When needed I take my kid’s prepaid T-Mobile phone. It is small and really light. I think I paid $30 for it and it came with $25 of airtime as well.
The Motorola F3 is really thin and basic phone, cheap too.
Hadn’t thought of switching SIM cards.
My lone phone now is a T-Mobile Blackberry, 2-3yrs old, full keybd, too big for my liking runwise.
Are all SIM cards the same?
But not all phones use them, eh?
SIM cards are all similar but some phones are locked to only use the SIM card from a certain network (T Mobile for example). So if you look for a new smaller phone just make sure the phone is compatible with the T Mobile network. Take the SIM card out of your old phone, put it in the new phone and you’re done. It is great if you have a phone that is too big or too nice to carry while running.
