Tingley (sp?)/Numb Feet/Toes

Recently I’ve notice a tingley (sp?)/numbing feeling in my feet and toes…this can be constant and not just during or after a workout…like right now my right big toes is tingling/numb…I noticed at times my feet seem to get very red at times after walking/running or wearing my work shoes all day…I work in an office and wear plain old rockport walking shoes…

This is not the first time this has happened, I can recall similar feeling in the past…

I know this is a medical issue and I will see a doctor if it persists over the next week, but what are the probably causes of this…

I think this may be a “shoe” issue.

Here are some of my theories:

I own new pair of work shoes and they may not be right for me since this feeling happens after wearing them all day.

I just switched my running shoes to yanks in preparation for upcoming races, and they may be a little too tight.

Other possibilities?

Thanks…

LOL! Gary, lay off the man’s feet!!

Sorry, I am not help here.

I’m no expert, but I’ve had a similar problem with my forefoot (metatarsal area). I changed a few things that have helped my feet:

  • Layed off running for a couple weeks and added swim and bike workouts instead (amazing how much that helped my swim and bike)
  • Moved my cleats further back on my shoes so I’m not pushing too much with my toes but rather the entire foot
  • Stopped running on pavement, now only run on trails for training
  • Purchased some Dr. Sholles Gel inserts for by cycling shoes and some felt pads (gel don’t fit) for my work shoes.

Not sure if anyone alone of the above would have done it for me, I think this combination worked best to heal my foot and prevent future problems. You might have to try a few different things to pin down the problem.
