OK-so check this out. I have the Timex HRM/Speed Distance Monitor, it retails for about $300. I have had it for just under a year and on a ride a few weeks ago, the bracelet broke and a car ran it over—the watch was shattered to pieces. I send it back to Timex with a plea to replace it. I got a package in the mail today, BRAND NEW WATCH!!! They asked for $50.00 —I was very impressed. No receipts needed or any forms—they just replaced it. Very very cool. Timex has me for a customer for life.
I’ll be able to confirm or deny your enthusiasm in a short while. My wife sent her broken Timex off and we’re waiting for the result.
Great, many of us can participate and report!! I just wish something happen to my Timexes, but they “keep ticking”
: )
well, how the bracelet broke and isn’t it carproof bulletproof?
: )
I had to changed my strap of my HRM 3 times (I broked the cover of the battery and it scrated my chest). 3 times with no questions they changed it for free! I agree, TIMEX IS AWESOME!

Ever since I was a kid(I’m 52) I’ve had timex watchs before digital… They used to have those commercials takes a licking keeps on ticking… Was always cool you could send your watch in if broke for 5 bucks(in the 60’s) they would repair or send you replacement they’ve always been most excellent.
But just a point (don’t get me wrong timex is great in customer service) the watch part of the speed distance monitor is the cheapest part and the watch probably would go for 50 bucks anyway wholesale or cheaper for their cost.
Timex is an incredible company and their watches are very nice. The Timex Ironman wristwatch is the best selling single wristwatch model (family) in the entire history of horology.
U.S. Presidents (Bill Clinton) have worn Timex Ironman watches proudly.
I’ve always considered the Timex Ironman watch something more than a watch- it’s an enduring icon of our (sub)culture and even a good luck charm. I collect watches and have a fairly diverse collection but the watch I wear day to day and enjoy the most is my Timex Ironman 100 lap.
Wait until you see their new titanium “dress” line watch that is just now coming out! Still digital with the IM logo and VERY cool. Quick adjust Ti sports bracelet is cool, but a little bulky - sort of a rubber and thin Ti frame mix. Still functions as a chrono, etc.
Perfect timing. My strap on my Ironman just broke. Ran to a few stores, have yet to find a replacement…anyone any leads on ho to get one quickly…I’m racing next weekend!!!
Cheers.
I’m not sure I would “race” in one of those new ones. You certainly could, waterproof and all that, but it is more of a “dress” Ironman digital watch if that makes any sense.

I get my Timex stuff from http://www.prosportwatches.com/ because they have the lowest prices I've found anywhere. Since they are pretty close (Cleveland to Detroit) I usually get them the next day.
My experience with the Timex Bodylink stuff is pretty poor. I got one last year and have recorded 271 workouts with it. The GPS radio-link is very fragile, I would get dropouts on almost every workout and the numbers sometimes were off by 0.5 mile either way for a typical 8 mile run. The mode button on the watch has long had a hardware debounce problem and it’s amost impossible to hit it just once, it doubles or triple clicks no matter how carefully you push it. Early this year the carrier clip for the GPS broke, its design is very poor with just a tiny bit of plastic at the point of fracture. About a month ago the HRM belt started acting flakey, I’d get minutes long runs of 240 BPM (its max), so I checked the battery and it was bad. Replaced the battery, didn’t help. I then tried another older belt from a mid-'90s Ironman that I had laying about, works great, way better than the new one ever did, much smoother HRM data. About two weeks ago the spring in the datalogger USB cable broke, so now you have to manually hold the datalogger into the little clip while the download takes place. The pace calculator in the watch sucks horribly, if I run at, say, 8:00 pace I can stare at the pace report and it will jump from 6:30 to 9:00 wildly every few seconds, completely unusable. The packaging of the system is annoying, you have 1) a watch, 2) HRM belt, 3) GPS box, 4) datalogger. Why are there 4 things to carry? At the very least integrate the GPS and datalogger and eliminate one radio connection…
So, after recommending to my dad that he get a Garmin 205 for himself a few months ago, I followed my own advice and found a Garmin 305 for $207 (the Timex system cost me $240). I’ve been using it for a week now and it’s about a million times better for my use in every regard so far. Much more functionality, more reliable GPS (I’ve only seen deviations from map measurements < 1% so far), super smooth pacing functions and excellent interface.
