has anyone noticed this problem w/ the timex speed+distance? >> every once and while when i hit a big bump on the bike (ie railroad tracks) the watch beeps, goes blank, then completely resets itself ( to GMT)and i lose all data. mtb’ing is now out of the question, and i can even get it to reset by shaking my hand violently… it’s getting annoying, but at least i have no problems running so not all is lost…
I’ll bet they will replace that unit for you for that. I guess the question is, is it the receiver or the watch?
Exact same thing starting happening to me about a month ago but stopping re-setting itself and just went blank. Replaced the battery and that worked briefly but soon enough, conked out again and hasn’t come back on since (about two weeks ago). It is the watch itself because I haven’t used to receiver.
I gave up on it and got a non-GPS watch. Haven’t tried Customer Service but now that there’s others with the same problem maybe we should.

Yes, I have had this problem. I have gone out an run with no problems, then when I brought the watch back in to write down the information, just setting in down on the kitchen table caused it to freak out and reset - very annoying. But I just figured it was getting old since I have had it since June of 2002.
Now I use a Garmin Forerunner instead -which has been better behaved once I realized that I need to wear it on my left wrist (non-dominant side). I guess I moved my right arm around too much and that was causing problems with the GPS signal. I wear the heartrate monitor on my right wrist now.

I had this same problem with the first generation Timex GPS watch. I called up Timex Cust Svc and they said they were aware of the problem (a circuitry issue, I think), had me send in the watch which they repaired and sent back free of charge.
Didn’t have any more trouble but, soon went to the new generation Bodylink watch which is far better in terms of features, etc. plus the HRM.
