Time RXS rebuild

Does anyone have instructions, diagrams, etc? Specifically- How do you replace the bearings (if possible?).

You either buy new, or send them back to Time.

No user access? It looks like there are pin spanner slots on the back of the bearing?

I’ve had my two pairs of RXS pedals for a couple years now and the bearings still seem good…how many miles do you have on yours and how do you know when to replace the bearings?

Unfortunately I have not had them long. This is a crash issue. Bearing took a direct hit and now catches. Thought I may be able to replace it rather than buy a new pair.

If the RXS pedals are build like the other Time pedals I have worked on, then all you really need to do is remove the C-clip that holds the spindle assembly in place where the axle enters the pedal body. It usually helps to have the proper tool, which I call a C-spanner, which is basically a reverse opening pair of pliers with special ends.

Once the C-clip is removed, there’s is usually a little bit up pulling involved to get the spindle out. Helps to screw it back into the crank arm if it’s really sticky.

My opinion though, is that any force hard enough to suspect damage to the bearings is more than enough force to also wreck the alloy or carbon pedal body. It’s probably not bearing damage, but body damage where the bearing seat got misaligned.

They are not at all like the Equipe pedals that have the clip. They have a cap system that “needs” a special tool (pliers work) to remove the axel from the pedal body. From there, I have not seen anything in it that I could service. I did break a pedal once (Time RSX Carbon Ti)…tore the whole thing apart just to play…not sure even where I would get any parts for the pedal other than from the OE who I bet would not be willing to sell them at any price.
