I’m doing Ironman Austria on July 6th and thinking of doing the EmbrunMan (supposedly one of the hardest ironmans out there) on August 15th. Will rest as much as possible (I’m on vacation) and due lots of cycling in the Alps.
Is 5 weeks enough time to recover?? Any advice on long runs during rest period?
I have done this twice before with results on the 2 IMs right in line with what I usually do. What I did was rest the 1st week, cycle and swim and if up to it light run the 2nd week, 2 longer runs the 3rd week, and drastic taper for weeks 4 and 5. It can be done. Rest a lot b/f 1st race and have a good base.
