Wow,
Sue Williams beats Kate Major by 6 minutes.
Take this you nay-sayers claiming us short course athletes can’t go the distance!

I saw that. S Williams is having an awesome season. Does anyone know if she has any IM aspirations?
wasn’t peter reid racing? didn’t see him anywhere, not even on the DNF’s.

was not at the start…not sure why?

Does Chris Legh basically go around the county and win every 1/2? He won the Great Buckeye, Sylvania, Timberman, etc.
Well, I guess when you go sub 4 you are bound to finish pretty well … geez
Rappstar took 5th today!
I reckon he must be the most consistent 1/2 athlete there is. Last year he won 7 of 7. He still has a tough time in the full IM sometimes (who doesn’t I suppose) but man, he has got some sort of engine!
If I’m not mistaken, Chris is scheduled to come to Dallas and race PrairieMan Half on Sept. 11th. Course is extremely flat, so he would undoubtedly tear it up.
Chris is also racing at SOMA in Tempe. SOMA Cafe is one of his sponsors. He won that race last year too.
The announcer said he has won 3 1/2’s in the past month (Racine & Timberman being the bookends, not sure what was in the middle), going sub-4 in all of them.
He’s taking a break from the IM distance for the rest of this year and is doing these 1/2’s, some XTerra races later in the year, and some other stuff.
Susy Williams is unbelievable. I caught her going about three miles from T2. I had caught Andrea Fisher about three miles from T1, and figured she was the lead female. When I finally caught up to Susy, I recognized the blue & yellow shorts of the Nike athletes. She had a pretty phenomenal ride on that course. She said after the race she was going to do some ITU races to finish this season out and then try to race a lot of 1/2IM races next season, since she really likes that distance. Certainly the distance seems to like her as well…
Peter was apparently around for the weekend, as he gave a talk on Friday. But maybe with the heavy rains, he didn’t want to chance crashing before Hawaii. Or perhaps he just wasn’t feeling 100%. Nobody I talked to seemed to know… Also, Chris mentioned it was a shame LVL didn’t show up, but not sure what the cause was for that.
Overall, it was great race. Kudos to Keith Jordan and everyone at Endorfun for another spectacular race.
And yes, the mohawk was a great success. Kate Major commented after the race “you must use some pretty strong wax in that thing, since it was standing straight on the run.” I got recognized by a number of SlowTwitchers as well, but didn’t see as many as I thought. I was hoping to see some more at the post-race party, but my travelling companions wanted to get home, and I was pretty beat at that point (especially my feet, which were a sea of blisters), so I headed on home.
It was great to keep 5th place in the SlowTwitch family, with Sergio winning it last year. But I guess Sergio must have worn pink socks or something last year, because only the top 3 got to go on the podium this year…
Rock on Rappster. Very studly. That is an amazing race. You should be proud !
Brian,
Rumor has it that both Chris Legh and Susan Williams have won TimberMan on QR bikes?
Herbert
What was Susy riding? I know Chris rides a Lucero. Susy was on a white frame. I didn’t see any logos, but I wasn’t really looking…

At the Friday night dinner that he was supposed to speak at, Keith Jordan said Peter Reid couldn’t make it. I’m having a senior moment, and can’t remember what the reason was.
First time doing Timberman - what a hard race - it felt twice as hard as Eagleman! I got 2nd Athena - and a nice bottle of maple syrup.
A girl from my “team” Danielle Sullivan got third place overall - it was great to see her up on the podium with two pros.
I heard a rumor that he had food poisoning.
It was just a rumor though…
3 canadians in the top 50 dev We’re takin’ over
