Timberman Race Review

What a race yesterday!

Keith Jordan and his extended team did an absolutely fantastic job with yesterday’s event. Thank you!

This is the best event I’ve ever had the pleasure of competing in.

The highlights included a swim that was crystal clear and marked better than any swim I’ve ever done. The visibility was phenomenal.

The bike course was also marked incredibly well.

The aid stations were every 10 miles and well stocked with cold water, cold gatorade and gels.

The volunteers at the aid stations were incredibly enthusiastic, supportive and attentive. They were also very good at handing out the bottles to the athletes on the move.

The road conditions were other worldly. The best paved 54 miles I’ve ever been on. (I think Frank Bean road was about 2 miles long.)

The run course was great.

My personal highlights included:

The folk singers.

The Flinstone Girls.

The incredible neighborhood at the turn-around.

Getting the opportunity to run through the screaming crowds 4-5 times depending on how you count.

The cow bells!

And finally, my personal favorite… the Ice Hockey team with the BIG PILE OF SNOW!

If it wasn’t for that pile of snow, I might not have made it! Down the shorts front and back, fantastic!

We can’t forget the guy in drag in the water at the start and at the 1/2 way point and finish. He was just about everywhere I needed a laugh.

The other racers were delightful

The volunteers humbled me with their energy, their sheer numbers and their professionalism. Thank you!

Let’s not forget the chance to stand next to Chrissie Wellington at the finish. Hubba hubba!

It was a day I will always remember.

Keith, Thank you!

Chrissie…call me.

Timberman 2009 was GREAT!!!

One more time… Thank you!

KJ and crew and the ridiculously amazing volunteers consistently do a phenominal job. +1 to everything you posted.

So many big and little touches throughout the entire weekend, it just boggles the mind how much gets put into that event, and how incredibly well they pull it all off.
They set the bar so high, I don’t think even an IM can match it.

Totally agree - the snow balls were a day-saver for me. I fantasized about getting more snow the whole way.
That’s my new favorite thing in the world.

The ice pops at the finish probably kept me out of the med tent. Sorry if I didn’t leave any for anybody else…

And how many events have a beer and margarita tent? : )
PS - and the band playing there was really good.

I second everything you said. Hats off the Keith and the team, and of course the volunteers and the community for an incredible race. Best race I have ever done. Support is second to none.

The highlights for me, was the hockey players handing out ice (that saved me on the run), the flintstone girls rocked. Very energetic, and made me smile. The turn around area was like running into a block party! Fantastic, I was very impressed. Finally, the guy with the hose on the run course, that sprayed me more than once. Thanks.

A class act from everyone involved and the community at large. Very impressed.
