Hello ST’s,
A group of 6-8 Canadians from the maritimes are heading down to Timberman for their 1st go and a 1/2. Anyone have suggestions for cottages or motels that would accommodate a group of our size and that are within about 20 minutes of the event site and strike a good balance between cost and comfort?

Rent an RV and camp at Gunstock! I stayed at a motel in Alton (15 minutes south) right by the circle, but I doubt they can fit your numbers. The fun never ends when you’re camping, though…

It’s a bit more than 20 minutes (but not by much), but the Red Roof Inn in Loudon has good rates and at this stage of things could likely accommodate your group. It is located just about where the turnaround is for the bike.
The Tilton Hilton (the Super 8 in Tilton next to the Interstate highway), there is a 24/7 McDonalds in the motel parking lot thats great for pre race coffee and road kill sandwitchs. Tim

there is also a brand new hotel opening in Gilford, at about mile 8 of the bike course. So, close to the park. Not sure what it will be, as it’s still under construction.
You might want to try www.vrbo.com With a group that size, split a condo/cottage and be able to cook for yourself. Just an idea…

Can’t beat staying right where all the action is ! You’re likely to bump into pros in the washroom line…

I went on the internet to vacations by owner. I got a 3 bedroom condo within 20 minutes of the race start for 4 nights $650.00 total. Although we only slept 3 in it, it could have easily accomodated 6. We had a fully stocked kitchen and a washer dryer. It was great to cook our own meals while we were there. If you want the exact property, PM me and I will look it up.
