Tight jersey, never listen to the guys

our roadie club, gears4beers.org (an awesome group of cyclists!!!) recently got kits. they’re very fun, much like the spirit of the group.

anyway, upon getting fit for these kits we had lots of samples to try on. when i tried on the jerseys, some of the guys where there and encouraged me to get a tight fitting jersey, as this is better for riding and won’t have a sleeve or anything flapping during a ride. so i thought that made sense and they helped me choose a jersey. now i’m not a small lady, so i’m assuming they were genuinely trying to help me get the right fit (not cause they want to see me in a tight shirt, please.)

yesteday was my first time sporting the top, and i proudly said to my husband, “look honey, here are the new G4B jerseys! Aren’t they awesome!!!” he said, “damn, your boobs are all squished up in that thing”, to which i was promptly embarrassed; he was right! during try on, there were no mirrors!!!

now, i’ve lost weight since ordering this thing (which means I’m SMALLER since ordering).

i have the feeling the joke is on me, and jerseys aren’t really supposed to be so tight. also, i got 4 honks on my ride yesterday. clearly, something ain’t right.

anyway, during the ride i was cracking up, i could hardly breathe in the jersey. the thing was a turnicate! yet the guys, during try on, were telling me “get it tight, get it tight”. what were they thinking? what was i thinking?!

now, if there were women there during the try on, i’m sure they would have said, “yeah, uhm, you look like a hooker on wheels kitty…” LOL!

i guess it’s about perspective??

the jersey is in a drawer waiting for the last 10 pounds to come off; it’s another source of motivation to keep loosing weight. but lesson learned; get the opinions of ladies next time. they know what’s up

I just got 2 jerseys in CdA and was vetoed both times to get a smaller size. I hardly think I’m an XS, and was a little self conscious wearing one of them, but I feel so aero!

Jodi

You both know the rules… Pics or they don’t exist.

aero is good! let us know if you get any honks. LOL

God no! this jersey, i swear, borderlines obscene!

if there had been mirrors at the try on, i would have known they were either a) crazy, or b) playing a joke on me. either way, it’s pretty funny!

I was wearing one of them in 2 pics here. So tight on my arms!

please don’t make me beg!

Just as a reminder…

We’re still waiting for the pics of the wetsuit top that was too small, too.

Steve

this shows my ability to be so stupid. why didn’t i realize it didn’t fit? thank God i can laugh at myself.

LOL! i cannot tell from the pics that it’s really “too” tight. looks like it fits! but once you get going, and the blood starts moving, ya realize how tight something like that is. i’m lucky to have arms after wearing my turnicate for 2 hours.

i enjoy your pics so much. what fun you had; that is just awesome!

LOL, that should read tourniquet by the way. Still waiting for the pics…and surely such a nice supportive jersey removes the need for a sports bra too so you can save a bit of weight on the bike

KC, if it makes you feel any better I have the same issue with Bike shorts…

I am sure it fits fine, I can’t believe any man would ever tell a women to get a tighter shirt.

You were listening to the wrong guys. For normal riding I would have said kind of loose. I think it is cooler if some air can flow thru. But with that said my race top is pretty tight.

Nah … skintight is definitely the way to go.
Have confidence!

you are cracking me up.

i agree, although once the top becomes similar to a sausage casing, things have gone too far.
this jersey (or tourniquet if you will) walks the line, let me tell you.

You wouldn’t believe the amount of clothing/wetsuits I have that seem to shrink over the winter time. Come spring, I can barely squeeze into them.

IF you when you initially tried it on, t did not feel as tight as you say it does now (and you have lost some weight), it is possible the samples you tried on were a club cut and when the actual jersey’s came they were a euro/race cut.
