our roadie club, gears4beers.org (an awesome group of cyclists!!!) recently got kits. they’re very fun, much like the spirit of the group.
anyway, upon getting fit for these kits we had lots of samples to try on. when i tried on the jerseys, some of the guys where there and encouraged me to get a tight fitting jersey, as this is better for riding and won’t have a sleeve or anything flapping during a ride. so i thought that made sense and they helped me choose a jersey. now i’m not a small lady, so i’m assuming they were genuinely trying to help me get the right fit (not cause they want to see me in a tight shirt, please.)
yesteday was my first time sporting the top, and i proudly said to my husband, “look honey, here are the new G4B jerseys! Aren’t they awesome!!!” he said, “damn, your boobs are all squished up in that thing”, to which i was promptly embarrassed; he was right! during try on, there were no mirrors!!!
now, i’ve lost weight since ordering this thing (which means I’m SMALLER since ordering).
i have the feeling the joke is on me, and jerseys aren’t really supposed to be so tight. also, i got 4 honks on my ride yesterday. clearly, something ain’t right.
anyway, during the ride i was cracking up, i could hardly breathe in the jersey. the thing was a turnicate! yet the guys, during try on, were telling me “get it tight, get it tight”. what were they thinking? what was i thinking?!
now, if there were women there during the try on, i’m sure they would have said, “yeah, uhm, you look like a hooker on wheels kitty…” LOL!
i guess it’s about perspective??
the jersey is in a drawer waiting for the last 10 pounds to come off; it’s another source of motivation to keep loosing weight. but lesson learned; get the opinions of ladies next time. they know what’s up ![]()
