Ti bolts with Aluminum frame - Problems?

I am replacing some aluminum bottle cage bolts on my aluminum bike…are there any issues with using Titanium bottle cage bolts (metals seizing, etc)?

Thanks.

i’m reasonably sure that as long as you put a thin layer of grease on the threads you’ll have no problems.

Yes. They can and will easily seize to the frame. I dont care if you put Ti-Prep, Grease or even Teflon Tape wrap the bolts - I have seen them seize. What again was the problem that you have with the LIGHTER Alu bolts?

Fatigue. May have been cheap bolts - who knows. I am sure I wouldn’t have trouble with Steel - correct?

Not enough torque.

Steel can have lower strength that aluminum. Just depends on which alloys are used. Some pretty weak steel out there.

Fatigue is common with Alu bolts as you sitck a 22oz bottle of water on it and push and pull and rattle the hell out of it. I would go with common steel bolts from your LBS, or another set of Alu. They are cheap and easily replaceable.
