Throw Down a Prediction - Electoral College

Roughly one week to go. For eternal bragging rights, put your electoral college prediction down for all to see.

Here’s mine:

312 Kerry
226 Bush

Kerry is down in the polls, and you’re calling for an 86 vote electoral landslide? Don’t call the Las Vegas book, if you spot them 70 votes, they’ll take all you’ve got.

What’s your prediction/guess?

Before the lawsuits or after?

Damn, I’d hate to try to get you and CE in an office football pool.

Bush 285 votes. Kerry gets the rest.

Me and Cuz will bicker over rules in anything. Just like Bush and Kerry will after the election. I still love the Cuz!

First round Kerry 282 Bush 250

2nd round Bush 382 Kerry 150
.

Bush 350.

Kerry: whatever is left

Bush–300

Kerry–238.

Bush 269, Kerry 269, Cheney declares martial law as riots break out. Alexander Haig comes out of retirement and states “I’m in control here (again)”.

Bush 277

Kerry 261
.

Bush: 284

Kerry: 237

Nader: 3 (I think he’ll win Alaska)

I know a couple of state now have a system where the winning candidate get 2 votes and the rest are divided on percentage of popular vote but I can’t remember the states off the top of my head so I didn’t include that.

I also think there will be voter fraud in New Mexico (Machines are already screwing up, if you choose the vote for one party option it votes for the wrong one and a number of ballots were not counted in the 2000 and 2002 elections due to human error), Illinois (Republican backed registration group is being sued for not sending in Democratic registrations I think), Florida should be OK since they were scrutinized so heavily last time. Michigan I believe is still using the punch card system in about half of the counties and may be this years big fiasco.

“What’s your prediction/guess?”

I’m pretty indifferent, but I’m inclined to think it’ll be about ±10 one way or the other. I sure wouldn’t bet on it, because it depends on how many dead people show up…

“Bush 269, Kerry 269, Cheney declares martial law as riots break out. Alexander Haig comes out of retirement and states ‘I’m in control here (again)’.”

What he said…

I’m thinking Bush will narrowly take the electoral college and that there will be some controversy over states that post an electoral result different from the popular vote.

Bush has substantial political inertia as incumbent. That’s tough for a fast talking, promise making, non-performing armchair liberal nose-wiper peace nik to beat.

People who are feeble and easily convinced will vote for Kerry. People who understand commitment, sacrifice and honor will vote for Bush.

Just out of curiosity, have you ever considered that posting something like this online might hurt your business? I mean, you’ve just insulted 45% or more of your potential customers.

I sell bicycles. I’m not a politician.

I respect intelligent discourse. I disagree (often) with Art Franke, for example, but he is able to debate and discuss an issue in an intelligent, informed manner. I can respect his views even if I do not agree with them. You know, it is possible for intelligent, well informed people to disagree.

What Tom wrote is narrow-minded and shows a complete lack of respect for those who disagree with his opinions. “Feeble and easily convinced” is not intelligent discourse, it is an insult aimed at anyone who doesn’t agree with his viewpoints.

I’m simply surprised that someone would write something like that, then tag the URL to his business at the bottom of the post, especially in a state where 45-50% of his potential customers come from the “feeble” side.

Tom has repeatedly said he’s not a people person. However, he is very talented at bicycle fitting and a damn handsome man. So 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
