Three Rivers, MI (Olympic Dist) Roll Call

Anyone else doing this race (Saturday, Aug 21) ?

I’ll be returning to do it for my third consecutive time.

Let’s hope the outcome is better than Lansing, Galena, etc.

I’m there.

Duathlon only. I’m aquaphobic this year.

You’ll be able to place very well in your AG -
not too many people at all do the Du.

Chek out last year’s results at :

Cheryl and I are in. Final prep for IMC.

I’ll be there in a support capacity…and as a sponsor. I first did this one in '94. Still have the tank, well worn but recognizable

I hear you regarding the weather issue. I just posted a reply to Tom D’s request for info on the Legislator. Weather issues rank pretty high on an RD’s ulcer list. Forecast for Three Rivers so far is for mid 50’s overnight. That’s a little better than what happened yesterday. I showed 49-50 degrees at the Legislator race site at 7:20. When you put air that cold on top of 70+ degree water you get soup.

Emmanuel did a good thing adding the Sprint for his race this year. I know a few people who are doing that distance who otherwise would have avoided the long course.

Many of those on top the MGPS cums are ready to rock. Eric…watch out for AD…he’s just warmin’ up!

Everyone in the MGPS, heck, everyone in MI, seems to be going really fast this year. The competition has been great. Arce is supposed to be returning to defend his title. He claims he’s out of shape, injured, etc., but I have heard that before.

Yeah. I get a hoot out of watching some of these guys try to look a little gimpy around transition and trash talk themselves and then go out and hammer.

cya Saturday…

I am truly bummed! I scheduled a buisness trip to Philly this weekend which requires a Sunday Night stay :(. I guess I am one less Age Grouper in the Mix.

Eric you missed Sylvania… The weather was good, but the head wind for 12.5 miles slowed the bike times… I don’t think anyone broke one hour on the course (you could have though!!). I never thought I’d say this, but I was missing those Michigan hills!

There was one guy who broke an hour, but finished in 45th. Flat courses are not necessarily fast.

Great job! 4th overall and the AG win!

Hows about and update on Canada? Looks like you raced pro? How’d it go?

Windsor was great. I raced elite to try to win some spending money for IMC. They do a great job with that race, very slick. The Canadian national championships are next weekend, so a bunch of guys showed up at Windsor for a prep. They have been training with Simon Whitfield at the NTC. Colin Jenkins won. He was 2nd last year. Sean Bechtel was 2nd, James Loaring was 3rd, I was 4th, and Daniel Wells was 5th.

Jenkins, Bechtel, and Loaring jumped out during the swim. It was shallow and there were waves. I lost contact early and struggled, losing just over a minute in the process. I hammered the bike trying to catch them. They rode together until about 20k (of 30) when I passed them finally. Loaring dropped back a bit from the other 2 in the last 10k, and I eked out about a 45 second lead starting the run. I was running for my life at 3:30/k pace, but Jenkins and Bechtel were closing quickly. They passed me at about 2.5k (of 6). Loaring was still closing, and I tried to hold him off, but had to succumb at about 5k (heartbreaking).

Cheryl ended up 5th in a stacked field. Tara Ross won again, Michelle Kitze 2nd, Blaire Kniaziew 3rd, and Jen Hall 4th.

although i would love to defend my title (as of now i’ve let 3 go this year), but i really am injured and am going under the knife on thursday. unless there’s a christmas in august miracle it looks like eric you’re the man to beat big time. good luck!

Sorry to hear that. Good luck with the surgery and get well soon.
