zipp flashpoint 60s and bontrager race lites
.
anyone?
There have been a number of discussions involving the Flashpoint wheels. If you do a search, I’m sure you’ll find something. I’ve never used them so I don’t really have an opinion other than the knowledge that Zipp makes pretty awesome wheels in general.
I had one of the very first sets of Flash-point 60’s. This past season I raced and trained on them for about 1500-2000 miles. It would have been much more except that I got mono in late August/Early Fall. (How lame is that for a 29 year old?)
Anyways, I found the wheels to be excellent. I rode them in every type of weather including sleet, crashed once, and they still perform fine. The only problem I had with them was that one spoke came loose in early summer.
Here is my breif synopsis. Great aerodynamics, can’t imagine 404’s being much better even with dimples. Gusty sidewinds go fairly unnoticed so handling is always good. But the best parts of these wheels are the HUBS. Hands down the FP hubs are far better than what I have experienced from Bontrager (though I have never ridden any of their high-end wheelsets) These wheels will roll forever, you can actually coast up small risers instead of always pedaling. I recommend them. I just wished that they offered an Fp80.
For more information on these wheels go to flash-pointracing.com. Then click on FP fanatics blog and then click on richardN. That's me. I haven't posted in a while due to the fact that I haven't been able to ride (dumb mono). That said I think you'll find a very honest and more thorough review of these wheels.
