Just bought a pair…have run in the them 2x, anyone have any thoughts? Pretty expensive ($90) and I am only noticing that they are “tighter” in the zones where the panel fabric is different. Anyone have any long time experience with these tights and what are the advantages/disadvantages? Or…did I buy into something that really just looks cool?
looked at that, thought it was pricey
thanks for the free road test!!!
I bought a pair last fall and found them to be useless. I can think of one single positive thing to say about them.

i bought them, use them and like them. i do notice a difference. i don’t know if they are worth that much money and i don’t know if the difference is more than regular compression shorts, but i think it is. i think they are more helpful for ‘larger’ people (muscle or not) and for longer runs, 1/2 marathon and up. i’ve used both the full legnth and shorts in IM’s and they both make a difference in the marathon. JMHO.
I have a pair, and I’ve been running in them lately. They’re basically like long compression shorts. If that’s something valuable to you, then by all means consider them.
Price is kind of steep though.
It is funny you should say “larger people.” I am pretty thin 5’9 125lb. and they won’t stay up! I am constantly adjusting them or tying them so tight they hurt. I think I might have gotten burned! And my husband bought them too! Ugh, hate when that happens.
Do tights matter? I get the logic of expensive jackets/etc for a bike in cold weather – the pockets where you can get to 'em, or ones that have removable sleeves so you get two garments for one price. Or pricey shoes or ones that take a long time to find/choose so they fit right.
But I’ve never had reason, on a 3, 5, 15 mile run in any weather (yes, 10 degrees and wind and all that postal stuff) to say, I wish I had better tights. I haven’t seen these things, so maybe if they are purple or something they’d be worth it, but I’d say this is a piece of clothing that’s way overpriced.
My two cents, I guess, or a request for the skinny on tights technology.

I have an early prototype pair of the tights and the shorts that we got a long time ago to test. I too find they slip down and I don’t really like the shorts. I do like the tights, but it never really gets that cold here so they don’t get a lot of use.

The gf bought me a pair. Not the shorts. I find they slip as well. It’s like the areas designed for compression fall down the leg, particularly the thigh and knee area. I wouldn’t pay that much for a pair. OK, yes I would. That’s just my nature. I always find myself dropping money for things that I don’t really need.
I have had times when I wished for a better tight… My next purchase will be Pearl Izumi AmFib, windproof around the vitals. They’ll be good for x-country skiing as well as the edge running days. Cost is about the same as the CX-W. Those look cool but I’m not convinced by the technology…
I just think they are a HUGE rip-off. They are very thin and not very warm, they fit funny and don’t do what they are marketed to do (support muscles and reduce fatigue).

And just to continue Julian’s initial smart ass comment - how is this positive?
My bf has a pair and doesn’t think they do anything special and that they aren’t very warm.
Maybe you can unload yours on ebay and go buy something else.
Have any of you trichicks tried the CW-X sports bra? I’m interested if it’s anything special.
that’s right – the tip does get numb. I usually put on some underamorour (or whatever), but I can see how a little male panty-shield would be a good idea.
I didn’t intend it to be a smartass comment, I merely thought it was left dangling. I guess I misundetsood the line “I have one positive thing to say about them”. I also just don’t get it when people say “I could care less”, when clearly they mean “I couldn’t care less”.
The second time I wore them I did a brick and the elastic layer ripped. Not suitable for triathlon since you can’t cycle in them
