Thoughts on Everyday Nutrition

Tell me about my nutrition. Am I eating too much, too little? I’ve been feeling kinda tired lately, despite getting enough sleep and I’m thinking food may be my culprit. Here’s a two day smattering that’s pretty typical each week.

During the weekdays I usually get in a 1hr workout M-Thurs (Mon-Bike, Tu-Run, Wed-HIIT/Weights, Thur-Bike), on Saturday I do one longer ride. Friday’s and Sunday’s tend to be off days. FWIW, I’m a 32 yo female.

Tuesday
Slept: 8.5 hrs**

Breakfast:
· Coffee w/half and half + MCT Oil (MCT Oil = 130cal, 14g monounsaturated fat - basically concentrated Coconut oil)
· Kashi Blueberry Oat Cereal
o ½ Banana
o ~3/4c 2% milk

Snack:
· Kind Bar
· 80 cal block of Cheddar Cheese

Lunch:
v Workout: Treadmill for 50 min – FitBit says 543 calorie burn (uses HR & weight)
· Turkey Sandwich w/cheddar cheese, arugula, mustard, 1tsp mayo (regular grocery store 100% wheat bread)
· Kind Bar (different flavor!)

Dinner:
· Pan seared, baked chicken breast
· Wild Rice – about 1c cooked
· Arugula spinach salad with balsamic vin
· Glass of hard cider

Wednesday
Slept: 8 hrs**

Breakfast:
· Coffee w/half and half + MCT Oil
· Fage Greek Yogurt (5oz) + ½ c Bear Naked Fruit & Nut Granola

Snack:
· Kind Bar
· 80 cal block of Cheddar Cheese

Lunch:
v Workout: Weights/HIIT workout for 50 min – FitBit says 597 calorie burn
· Turkey Sandwich w/cheddar cheese, arugula, mustard, 1tsp mayo (regular grocery store 100% wheat bread)
· 80 cal block of Cheddar Cheese

Snack:
· Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte – Tall (I know, it’s junk, but it was a treat and I needed caffeine)
· Kind Bar

Dinner:
· ½ Turkey Wrap (leftover takeout), w/lettuce, honey mustard and bacon

I’d vote for:

Less Kind bars and more of things without ingredient list. Apple with almond butter

More fat. Olive oil. Avacado. Coconut oil. Nuts. And animal fats. Beef/steak every once in a while

Maybe more protein since it’s kinda hard to tell how much turkey you’re actually eating.

Less gluten and less dairy…

Just a cool physics note on MCT oil - It’s not exactly “concentrated” coconut oil, it’s more like purified or filtered. Notice when liquid coconut oil (above 76 degrees) turns solid at below 75 degrees, parts of it turn solid faster than others? If you filter out the stuff that turns solid faster, you’re left with the more pure mct stuff that stays liquid a lot longer. And coconut butter is the oil plus some coconut “meat”, which is pretty high in fiber.
