I was wondering what peoples thoughts are on a bike fit/ Repair shop?
My thoughts are that overhead would be lower because not as much inventory and all the online bike sales in the world won’t fix or fit peoples bikes for them.
I also live in a tourist town so nobody wants to be changing flats or rusty chains on their beach cruisers while on vacation…

I think it depends on the repairs you are looking to do. If you’re just doing tire changes and basic maintenance you probably wouldn’t need much space so my first thought would be to try and partner with the local bicycle stop (coffee shop or whatever), if you have one in the area. You could set up in the back of the building or maybe set up outside during business hours. Obviously if you get into bigger repairs then you’ll need room for tools and storage which at that point you may need a dedicated space. But partnering up would cut down rent, utilities, etc.
I met a guy who does on-call bike repairs out of a van, plus tunes/whatever. His garage is basically his shop, out of which he also will sell used bikes on consignment. Seems to make a living.
Sounds like a fun retirement gig. Also sounds like an awful way to support a family. You’re basically describing VeloFix’s business model
