So, I’m driving in my town to my local bike store. I’m about 3/4 of a mile away on the “main” street away… All of a sudden there is something in the middle of the street… To my surprise it’s a Sidi box with a brand new set of SIDI T1’s. The box has been run over… I stop the car in the middle of the street, jump out, look around, pick them up and I’m off to the bike store in disbelief that I just found a brand new set of Sidi T1’s.
Now as soon as I saw them I knew what happend… Someone purchased new shoes, put them ontop of their car and forgot about them… I’m just the lucky person to find them…
So, I get to the parking lot and have to think real hard what to do… Do I bring them in the store and tell them I found them in the road about a mile away, do I keep them? Let me see what size they are. 45’s too big… Let’s go in and see how much they retail for, oh $175.00. I could sell them on e-bay and put the proceeds towards something else? Oh, I could go in, buy my size come back tomorrow and return them and exchange the 45 for the 43’s that I need…
In the end, I brought them in, placed them on the counter and told them I found them in the middle of the street run over. The guy who just purchased the shoes, just called looking for them… His lucky day!
absolutely turn them in to the bike store. just imagine if that was you and you had a race in two days…you did the right thing for sure.
karma had you find them because it knew you would totally understand the situation!
You did the right thing, karma will reward you. A few years ago I ordered a bike from Colorado Cyclist. When it arrived I opened the box and found a bike that was almost twice the price from the one I had ordered. This “wrong” bike was my size and all the right spec’s just the wrong model frame from the one I ordered. I called right away and told them of the error. The customer service guy could not believe that I had called it in because they had no way of discovering the error. I told him karma would have bit me in the butt and the first time out I was the sure the bike would have tried to kill me. In the end they offered a free jersey for calling and correcting the deal.

They only gave you a jersey?!?!?! I ordered a trainer and recieved the top of the line one, which cost twice as much as I paid(don’t remember exact figures, but something like $100 and $200), so I called the place and told them and they offered to let me keep the more expensive one for only 10% of the difference! They said it was there mistake and appreciated the honestly
Pffft. As if the bike gods were anywhere near that just. The bike gods are not. They’re capricious, mischevious, arbitrary, cruel, and malicious. I don’t think even human sacrifice is guaranteed to satiate the evil desires of the bike gods.
More likely, the bike gods are going to punish Target for screwing up their nefarious plans for the guy who lost the shoes in the first place. Watch your back, Target.
