This is ridiculous!

Yeah, this is a good idea, let’s replace two track events in the Olympics with BMX!!! BMX??? In China??? What the f…? No offense against BMX, I raced for Schwinn and DG back in the day, but its not an Olympic sport. I guess the lure of the X-Games audience is just too much to resist.

Can’t believe it, with those guys you never know what the heck they are thinking.

I agree. The removal of events hurts athletes that have trained for years to achieve a goal. I just can’t believe that someone can get an olympic medal for ballroom dancing, but not for rugby. Ironically, the US is the reigning gold medal olympic champ. Some eons ago rugby was an olympic event, and the US won the gold before it was taken out.

I am currently making a push in the states to change the word ‘rediculous’ to ‘recockulous’. Please help.

What? I dont see why not…you come on over to my place…Rockford Il is the home of the US national BMX just about every year…Searles BMX track is owned by the local park district and open every day for your free enjoyment…race an 8 year old…I dare ya…it is VERY hard (and where I got my start in cycling).

I’m not knocking the addition of new events. I think BMX is crazy and takes insane amounts of guts and skill. I have tons of respect for those guys. I merely have a problem with the removal of existing events that are still popular with athletes and or fans.

“You guys swing like Helen Keller at a pinata party”

I thought you had to be blindfolded to swing at a pinata…we would all swing like Hellen Keller…

True, true… its from the ads for the new version of Bad News Bears. When I heard it I laughed so hard I almost cried. I’m pretty sure I was the only person in the theather laughing.

Also, just wanted to say thank you for taking care of TSR. I don’t have anything I can donate yet, but when I do, I’ll be sure to send it your way.

DG? Who is DG? I rode (WAY back in the sandbox days) for Almond Joy, Redline and Vans…(still wear Vans).

Uh, you’re a young scout there partner. Factory Schwinn and then DG rider back in the mid-seventies. Schwinn took really good care of us - we travelled with our parents, had a training bike for daily use and a shiny new bike (the Stings were cool) waiting for us at the races, and at any national event we had at least one box truck. We were stylin’. I was too young to know how good I had it, though.

I rode a blue Race Inc. back in '80-82. I still think that was one of the coolest bikes I’ve ever owned.

“Some eons ago rugby was an olympic event, and the US won the gold before it was taken out.”

Wow, that must have been eons ago, no-one else turn up
.

In the contact of Ban News Bears that is funny as hell…I got a heck of a kick out of the movie “Racing Stripes” with that Zebra…a horse told him “you daddy was a horse and your momma a fence”…funny as hell at the time…

they should remove soccer, tennis, and all the sports where winning at the olympics is not the biggest accomplishement…most top tennis players never show up at the games. lot more prestige winning a grand slam…
soccer? noone cares about winning the olympics compared to a euro league cup, a world cup etc…

And while they’re at it, let’s just get rid of all the pros, too. The Olympics just don’t carry the emotion of years past.

I agree. The Olympics should be about all those obscure sports that never get any respect or air time. For example, water polo.

Track cycling
draft legal triathlon
archery, judo, karate etc.
modern pentathlon
Mountain biking (not road)

still wear Vans

Cool people do.
