It is the 70.3 in Newfoundland, just read their rules and to my big surprize they don’t prohibit Mp3 palyers for the run. I am debating whether to go for it or not, I normally don’t even run with Ipod during my training runs but I think it can push me harder during races.
I hope the course doesn’t cross any train tracks.
It does not.
Sure, wear the Ipod, but realize that you run the very real risk that Cousin Elwood will kick the crap out of you for endangering everyone in the entire free world! He probably wasn’t planning on doing that race, but now that he knows you will be there, potentially with headphones, I’m sure he’ll see it as his duty to be there. Good luck!
What’s his problem with headphones if they are not against the rules. According to the website of the race, the run course is safe enough to be run with Ipod, I don’t see why not then. Any thoughts ?
I believe he is speaking about wearing them on the bike portion specifically.
It’s not the race directors or the series fault. At some point it comes to self control. I wouldn’t blame the race or the officials for that. I’ve seen that in Florida, Steelhead, Accenture etc. and all the other races. To be honest it is not any danger to me just irritating. if you see one, take the number and tell the officials.
There is another rule which has been over seen for a long time. Riding without the helmet in the race area before the race. now I’ve seen at least a dozen slowtwitchers doing it. And the most irritating part is unlike ipod issue where the newbies use, this one done by seasoned athletes on $5000+ bikes.
Does this sound like he was only talking about the bike portion of the race?
“If I’m running or riding next to you (at a race) and see that you’re wearing headphones, I’ll shoulder you into the nearest ditch. If I see you riding with them on the roads where I ride, I’ll rip them off your head.”
I sit corrected
.
Quick, get that idiot macho guy to Axe kick the race director in the face before the hoards of ipod wearing athletes bring about Armageddon and kill us all!
Chuck Norris rides with an iPod and no one yells at him.
Chuck Norris does what Chuck Norris wants
.
Report what ??? It IS ALLOWED in this race by the officials and I am tempted to use mine myself. Is it my English or your reading comprehension ?
what is it exactly that is wrong with people like you who get irritated by other people taking risks? Why do people feel compelled to make a rule about me wearing a helmet when cruising around at 2mph in a parking lot? I wish to accept this risk sir!
The world, is gone crazy…
yawn. they allowed 'em in st. croix.
Since USAT does not allow, or WTC, who is the sponsor of the race?
Dave
That was surprising for me too, the race is in Canada so USAT rules don’t apply, but since it is an M-dot race I suppose WTC should be involved.
First question is who will they have as a head official? If they have one, which organization. Jimmy does not allow them for WTC.
USAT does not allow, or at a minimum, a time penalty. Now, if there are no officials, then an RD can do what ever
they want. Now, if someone were to get hurt at the race, I sure would love to see what the RD would use as
an excuse in a law suit since so many races are not allowing.
Dave
Can’t wait to race with my iPhone.
Can I bring my itv?
